"I was inspired knowing that we are all connected and we are all powerful" - EmpowHER participant
Happy Friday everyone!

We hope you are having a fantastic week and looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend ahead.
The Shifterhood has been rocking this month, we love seeing and hearing about all the amazing things our LeadHER's and EmpowHER's have been getting up to lately (more on that below). Our Shift Coordinators are also co-designing with all their young women to find out what amazing things they want to do in the upcoming school holidays!

A massive THANK YOU to everyone that purchased an EmpowHER Tee to support more young women to flourish! We really appreciate your support.

We received 22 applications for the Outward Bound Scholarships! We'll have an update for you next month on the lucky 8 that are going to be adventuring to Anakiwa in late September. We also have a couple of amazing girl-power movie fundraisers coming up to help support these amazing wāhine get there.

We'd like you to meet our new Shift Coordinators at Upper Hutt Community Youth Trust - Shontel Tugaga and Rosie Wylie! Feel free to contact them for anything Shifty related. Here's a little about each of them below.

As some of you may know, Sarah Smits is off on her next adventure to have a baby! We wish Sarah and her family all the best for these exciting times ahead.

Rosie grew up in Upper Hutt. She loves to connect and hear what's on people's hearts and the things they care about. She hopes to work alongside young women and create spaces of belonging and inclusion where they feel accepted and empowered.

Shontel grew up in Newlands and moved to Upper Hutt three years ago where she found her passion for being a youth worker. She is passionate about young people - realising their strengths, purpose and passions. Shontel loves to hear what young people are passionate about and then create a space where they can make this become a reality.

Last week the HVHS year 11 Shift LeadHERs ran a 5 Ways to Wellbeing workshop for their PE/Health teachers. Since learning about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing at a Shift leadHERship conference, the young women were really keen to share the kaupapa with their fellow students. As a group they decided that the most effective way of achieving that goal would be to teach the teachers – with the hope that 5 ways would then trickle into the classroom. Each young woman planned, facilitated the kōrero, and led an activity about their ‘way to wellbeing’.

On Monday this week the HVHS year 12 Shift LeadHERs ran an Empowerment Panel for their year group. This group of incredible young women brought together a panel of inspirational wāhine, gathered their peers, and facilitated a beautiful kōrero about female empowerment. Such goodness!

These groups of amazing young leaders are shifting mindsets! We’re excited to see what they will do next!
