Hi all!

Here are your five things this week — and a bit of a talking point for me this week is looking at re-sharing other people's content. Read on...

One -minute Read 📚 // words to live and work by //

Crediting other people's work has long been best practice on Instagram. The platform strongly promotes only sharing content you own. But where you do have rights, how much crediting is the right amount? And where multiple people have contributed to a project, where does crediting stop? This piece, sent to me by my colleague Christine, is doing the rounds in the art community and opens up the subject in a broader light.

I think the rule is fairly simple: if your mind helps write or create something, your name should be on it. Anything else is altering authorship. In the academy, it’s called plagiarism.

Two Fact of note ❗️ // something we learned this week //
A common misconception is that regramming is OK—Instagram' Community Guidelines state you should only share content you own or have 'right to share'.

Three Streamline Me ⛏ // quick tool tip //
I love the new(ish) ability to share a feed posts to your Stories—it's a great way to highlight posts from your community without stealing content, or celebrate other's creativity on Instagram. But if you're new to using the feature, you may wonder how to change the background behind the shared post? Tap and hold the marker pen on your desired background colour and voila! Then you can get even more creative with different coloured markers and text... enjoy! See examples in my 🏆 Stories highlights!

Four Eyes On 👀 // trend to watch //
Two years in, it's no surprise IG Stories producers are exploring new forms of creativity. The latest trend I'm seeing is a 'diary' style Story which uses apps like Unfold to add text, polaroid-style frames, and overlay videos for a scrapbook-look. See examples below from @h_cato and @dearleila.

Four Account Spotlight 💡 // inspire me //
I came across Hailun Ma (@hailunma) following a piece on @itnicethat, and was inspired by the Chinese photographer's portraits to show culture and people through their fashions. Take a moment to be absorbed in their world.

Have great weekends!

*Why the name and sushi emoji? The world of social stories is delicious, fun and fresh but, like anything yummy, it has a short shelf life— it's my nature to always be looking to the next innovation and constantly find ways to improve and evolve social storytelling for the future. Onwards!
