Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
I hope your summer has been a good one so far! This is going to be a pretty brief update, but I wanted to thank you all for your faithful prayers and for your investment in what the Lord is doing in the lives of college students at the University of Oregon.

Campus Ministers Conference!

Every four (or so) years, all of the Chi Alpha pastors from around the country get together for Campus Ministers Conference (CMC). When CMC first started there were under 50 ministers in attendance, this year we had over 800 ministers present + their kids! The Lord is good! It was such an encouraging experience to get to spend time with this "extended family" and hear about what Jesus has been doing all around the country. And I got to catch up with a bunch of good friends!
The national director of Chi Alpha, E. Scott Martin, invited the directors from both Cru and Intervarsity (fellow university campus ministries) to share with us! It was so cool to hear about the shared vision we all have to reach university students.

Another sessions I went to talked about "doing just one thing." It's easy for a ministry to get caught up in how great the need on their campus is and try to do anything and everything to reach students. However, if we can focus our energy and be strategic in the one thing we put our time into, we can reach far more students than a "shotgun" approach can. The emphasis of the talk was on small groups and how if we can get our students into a vibrant small group, that will have the greatest effect on their walk with Jesus both in college and long term. Vibrant means that students are connecting, growing, and reaching out to others.

Even though this wasn't an entirely new thought to me, it was such a good recasting of vision! I'm looking forward to taking the ideas I've learned and relearned and implementing them at the University of Oregon.

Special Prayer Request!

As some of you know, I had to move out of the place I was living in this last school year. I'm currently in the process of trying to find a place to live for the next year, but it has been slow going. I finally have some roommates committed to looking with me (Praise the Lord!), but we still need to find a location.

I'm hoping for a place that is near campus and one where it will be easy to host students. Finding a home is time-consuming and so I'm hoping the Lord will provide something quickly. Thank you so much for your prayers!
God Provided by...

... Giving me a car! Still can't quite believe how generous my friends are... The Lord is good!

... Providing a couple ladies who are interested in being my roommates!

Please pray that God would...

... Prepare the hearts of the students, both new and returning, for the work he wants to do at the University of Oregon.

... Bring in the support I need to minster well and build a budget that allows me to be in ministry long-term.

Thank you for your faithful support!
