WHAT'S UP

The unwavering consistency over the last several weeks has been the Summer Sampler 2018 Road Trip, which I joined by invitation and haven't regretted for a second. With a stack of Carolyn Friedlander prints as my main fabrics, it's been a joy to sew a new block each week, inspired by some exotic location around the world. My own design, Milan, was up last week, and it was especially fun to see how others make the block their own.
In case you missed it, I also shared a tutorial for Setting in an Improv Layered Circle, something you won't use every day, but it's there if you want to try it!

WORTH A READ

ROUND-UP

This issue's round-up is simply a collection of items I've enjoyed seeing lately.... ones that have made me pause and take a good deep look. Enjoy!

String Quilt by Clare/[selfsewn]. Love the straighforward yet impactful design. AND the photoshoot.

Anna/[noodlehead531]'s new Forage fabric line (especially this floral in this colorway!) made up into a Traverse Bag was just such a perfect combo. I currently am carrying a Traverse bag daily and it's a really terrific and versatile bag.
Hexie quilts get me every time, and April/[aprilmarcot]'s Tula Pink half-hexies cut with a Hex N More Ruler are stunning. I've used this ruler from Jaybird Quilts before, and in my experience it helps you create uncomplicated quilts with catching designs.

This improv quilt by Claudia/
[claudiashearerquilts] had me scrolling back more than once. Made with silk and cotton, I can only imagine the wonderful texture.
Gotta say I adore this quilt by Saija/[saija_elina]. Using Loved to Pieces fabric from Mathew Boudreaux and Robin Pickens
Harlequin pattern together was truly inspired, don't you think? Gorgeous.
And have you had the chance to try the little weebrawbag
pattern by Laura Cunningham yet? This one was made by Jan/[patchworkandpetals], and didn't she pick the most remarkable fabric combination? Love her attention to detail.

IN-STUDIO

My latest discovery is the Kai Seam Remover, "ideal for cutting away unwanted stitches or threads. Its unique design allows for fear-free unsewing. The guards keeps you and your fabric safe while delivering precise seam removal." wow! It's unique and different than anything I've ever seen. I bought one, tried it, and was sold. Then I bought a few to share. If you'd like a chance at winning one, just reply back to The Scrap Basket email and I'll choose a random winner.
