College of Professional Studies were well represented at the inauguration of Bernie L. Patterson, Ph.D. as the 14th chancellor of the university on Friday, April 15. Students and faculty presented research and informational posters at the campuswide festival in the Alumni Room.

UWSP signs health-care fields agreement with Mid-State

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical College signed an agreement on Monday, April 11 to provide students in three
health-care fields to transfer from MSTC to UWSP with junior status in order to complete bachelor’s degrees. Students eligible for this program are those who earn associates degrees in MSTC’s respiratory therapist, clinical research coordinator and biomedical information technician programs.

Employee Wellness Program Recognized

The
UWSP Employee Wellness program earned the Governor's Worksite Wellness Bronze Award. UWSP is the only UW campus to receive any level (bronze, silver, gold) of this award.
Walk at Lunch Program a Success

Over 50 UWSP employees participated in the 4th Annual Walk at Lunch program in the Multi-Activity Center on April 27. The event was sponsored by
UWSP Employee Wellness - Pointers Achieving Wellness (PAWs).
School of Ed welcomes College Days for Kids

The
School of Education welcomed 278 sixth-grade students from 23 schools throughout Central Wisconsin for
UWSP College Days for Kids on April 8. Students attend classes including Chemistry, Napoleon, Rock Climbing, Planetarium, Media, Origami, Chinese, and Problem Solving.

Egner named Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year

UW-Stevens Point head women’s basketball coach Shirley Egner has been named the recipient of the 2011 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III
Women’s Coach of the Year. This marks the second straight season Egner has taken home the top Division III coaching award in the state.
Alumnus Visits Consumer Economics Class

Lela Jahn, '62, visited with Dr. Sterling Wall's HD 372 Consumer Economics class on April 27 for an eye-opening discussion on personal values. Jahn was the recipient of the
2010 CPS Distinguished Alumnus Award and runs a mentor program with the CPS.
Clinical Lab Science team wins State Bowl

Congratulations to the UWSP
Clinical Lab Science team that won the Wisconsin Student Bowl championship on Tuesday, April 5. Competing against 20 other entries, the winning UWSP team included May 2011 grads Cassie Chilcote (Mayo Clinic), Liz Carney (Southwest Health Center), Megan Arndt (St. Michael’s Hospital), and Michael Peterson (Langlade Hospital).
