E-Registration
Thank you to all the families that have registered for the 2018-2019 school year! We have a large percentage of families already registered. If you have not done so, please take the time to register as soon as possible.
Attention
Volunteers and drivers... We are obligated to comply with a new Archdiocesan policy. If you plan to either serve as a volunteer or an event/trip driver during the upcoming school year, you must complete the following trainings -
Safe Environments and
Be Smart Drive Safe. These trainings can be found at
cmgconnect.org. We are part of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. If you have already completed the Driver course you will not be required to take it again, but all volunteers that work with or around our students must complete the Safe Environments course (It is a 75 minute video).
Preschool Openings
We still have openings in both of our preschool programs. We have openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays in our 3-year-old program and we have openings in the afternoon section of our 4-year-old program.
Y-Camp
7th & 8th grade parents: Packets for Y-camp are now available in the office. The packet contains permission slips, health forms, and conduct contract that need to be completed and returned. There is also a packing list and set of emergency numbers as well as the camp's procedures, policies and address.
Volleyball
St. John Volleyball (grades 4, 5, 6): Sign up and calendars are in the office. Please make sure you have a current physical and concussion form on file in the office before the first day of practice, Monday, August 27. There will be a brief parent meeting following that practice.
529 Education Plan
The Iowa Department of Revenue has just released an
IDR 529 Guidance Document which has important information. Most notably this document clearly states that parents who use 529 plans to pay K-12 tuition ARE still eligible for the Iowa "Tuition & Textbook Credit" which allows parents to take 25% of the first $1000 paid for each dependent for tuition each year.
Please save
The 6th grade class will be creating roller coasters in S.T.E.M. class this year. Please save your paper towel rolls for me. I will need roughly 200 of them to distribute to the students.
Reading Counts
Students who read seven or more books over the summer are invited to join me for breakfast in the cafeteria on Wednesday September 5, from 8:30 - 9am.
St. John License Plates
The St. John decal is $5 for one decal. The license plate can be obtained at the court house for a $5 fee. Both plates can take a decal. You can have two different decals if you so desire. If you want personalized decal plates you can order those online at
www.iowadot.gov (once there, click on
View decals. Our sticker is the 14th one) for a $25 fee for personalization and a $5 fee for the plates. Please contact Monica House (
