Still Here and Working Hard!

We are still here! Sorry for taking longer to write this time as we have been very busy with multiple tasks, but we're now able to report again.

Education in UCM (Mexican Christian University)

We had the blessing to visit in May the Bible University in Queretaro, Mexico. This is the school I worked with when I lived in Cincinnati. Many of the students that graduated were students I had the blessing of being part of their growth, so seeing them walk for graduation was a sense of accomplishment for me too! I know that God has great plans for them in the future.

Starting in August, I will be teaching two classes, Hebrews, and the Historical Books of the Old Testament. This semester I will be traveling to see the students twice during the semester, once to introduce myself and my family, and also at the end of the semester. I would like to have a strong influence if possible.

Closer to home

With the local church in Biznaga I’m still meeting with the leaders every Monday to have a class to build a stronger leadership to give direction to the Church. We have established the foundation, or the core of what our local culture looks like, and we have established a direction, or mission as a church based in our local culture and the values that we desire the church to have. The next stage is to build a strategy on how to share this with the church. The leaders have come on a long way! Please continue to pray for them.

We also were blessed to receive two mission groups from Kingsway this summer and work with them. With the first group we visited 7 different schools around the community and had day camps that taught anti-bullying lessons, and that each child is special. It was such a joy to see the kids sign and dance to the songs. This was a great opportunity to touch the community since it’s the first time we had open doors in the local schools to go in and teach the kids.

With the second group we had VBS where kids from Sharing Hope and the surrounding villages came. That week was dedicated to talk about the fruit of the spirit and sharing and serving with those around them.

ICOM

We have plans to visit churches, raise support, and attend ICOM in November. For us to be able to travel there we need $900 plus a vehicle to borrow during that time. Please let us know if we can stop at your church or small group and share what God is doing in Mexico, or if you would like to contribute in some way for us to be able to make this trip.

Kid's Corner

Gloria has been working with the leaders and their wives to help them grow stronger and be more effective in their ministry, to help them understand what they do, and the value and impact they have by reaching the kids. She meets with them every Monday to read scripture and do a devotion and also to have a group discussion on how to improve their work.

She is also working in implementing reading, writing and other activities that would help the kids in their studies and daily lives. The goal is not to entertain kids but to make a difference in their lives, and for the future of the kids, their families, and the community.

We also had the blessing of seeing several of the kids graduate from Kindergarten and from High School. Many being an example for the next generation. We hope to continue to encourage them to break the cycles of addiction, abuse, and malnutrition, and to understand that God has a purpose for them that if we seek God first and His will, we can live a fruitful life.
