JOHN BLY

Est.   ANTIQUES   1891

Dear Friends,

Welcome to this Edition of Bly's Bounty.

As well as some August acquisitions which we hope will tempt, including a rare piece of sailing memorabilia, there is also a link to our latest article which is published in the current issue of the Life Magazines.

Please do remember that our sourcing service remains at your disposal should that special piece be proving elusive.

We look forward to seeing you in our Chelsea showroom
next time you are in the area.

Best Wishes,
John and James Bly

Looking back at our naval heritage and relation Captain Bligh, here is a very rare nautical item.

A fabulously stylish pair of whisky bottles with silver overlay frames and labels.
One is for "Scotch" and the other "Canadian" and each has an engraved cartouche on the front bearing the name "Colonia".
This was the great yacht owned and sailed by the Vanderbilts in the early 1900s.
The Grandfather of a dear family friend was an accomplished yachtsman and sailed against the Colonia in the great days of the J Class and when the Vanderbilts sold the boat and all its furnishings he purchased these two bottles, and used them!
