Wednesday Technical Training

WeTT continues this week (19th Sep) with a session at Corsedarder. There will be technical exercises for TD4 and 5 levels and also an opportunity to try out the MapRun course. If you plan to have a go at the MapRun then please download the app / course and print off your own map from here The MapRun course is "long orange" standard. Meet at the monument at the high point of the Ballogie - Finzean road, ready to start at 6:30pm

On Wed 26th Sep Wed training will be held at Burnett Park, Banchory in conjunction with a Clubs Open Doors session. This is a SportsScotland initiative to encourage anyone to come and give the sport a try for the first time. Introductory activities will be available as well as the usual technical exercises. There is a also a MapRun course available that starts from Burnett Park. If you wish to have a go at MapRun then please download and print off your own map from here

Volunteer, Coaching & Young Leader Courses
22nd September, Kinnoull

If you're interested in the volunteer, coaching & young orienteer leadership courses that are on offer through SOA on the 22nd of September, act quickly to enquire regarding space(s) available.

Extraordinary General Meeting 2018
The EGM will be held at Kinnoull Hill in Perth to follow on from the Volunteer’s Day and prior to the BASOC SOL event on
Saturday 22 September, at 4.30 till 5pm.

The venue for the EGM will be the Forestry Commission Classroom, across the road from the Jubilee Car Park at
Kinnoull Hill, Perth. PH2 7LN
Free parking is available at this venue and light refreshments will be served at the EGM.
The EGM is primarily to approve the accounts of SOA from year ending 2017 which were not available at the AGM held in May 2018 and the subsequent deferred decision on the increase of SOA membership fees. Should any member wish to put forward any motions or proposals to the EGM they should submit them in writing to the Company Secretary, Fiona Keir, by Saturday 25 August.

World Schools Orienteering Championships in Estonia!

Congratulations to our juniors who made the select teams for the World Schools Champs that will take place in Estonia in spring of 2019.

Adam Barrie, Ewan Musgrave & Jonas Newey will be representing Scotland for the M14s, and Catriona Chapman & Charlotte Reynolds will be representing Scotland for the W14s.

Many thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts at the Pannanich event! The kids (and their parents!) will be fundraising between now next spring with the occasional tea/cake/coffee/tea/soups tent/table at upcoming events, so make sure to bring extra pocket change, and your own mug/bowl/flask, as that will get you a 50p discount! We may even stage a special one-off fundraising event -- watch this space!

More Summer Fun and Training

Ewan and Joel were lucky enough to be selected for the M/W14 JROS camp at Lagganlia this summer. Here's a great video showing what they got up to.

Dess POC Closed

Please note that the permanent orienteering course at Dess is currently closed due to ongoing forestry work. We hope to re-plan and re-launch it once work is completed in the autumn.
