Welcome Back Leopards
We welcome you all back to the 2018-2019 school year! We have been getting school ready for your return and we’re excited for a new year to begin. We have many exciting changes to the staff and school which we will tell you about in upcoming newsletters.
New Family Orientation /
K Night

Thanks to all the new families who came out, met your child’s teacher, and received information about Lakeshore.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Thanks to all who helped us host a tasty spa-themed meal for our hardworking Lakeshore staff.

$100,000 Questionniare
We can get up to $100,000 if EVERYONE fills out their free lunch questionnaire by the due date. Find it online at https://schoolcafe.com/

We did it for the last three years and we can do it again! Funds go toward much needed supplemental services such as staff support and literacy intervention.

Click “Apply for Benefits” and fill in even if your family doesn’t qualify and even if your child won’t be eating school lunch. We simply need the total headcount to qualify for the grant. This is very important!

Back-to-School Checklist

The first week of school can be hectic, overwhelming, and exhausting, so here are some helpful reminders:

  • Complete and return the Student Emergency / Medical Information Card
  • Complete and return the Application for Meal Benefits — whether or not you plan to participate. Our school benefits if we get 100% form completion!
  • When providing contact information, please include an email address so teachers and Room Parents have a more timely way to provide important information
  • Label your children’s belongings and frequently check the Lost and Found to reclaim items (the Lost and Found will be cleared out at the end of each month)
ExCEL Child Care Openings ExCEL After School and Morning Program enrollment forms for the school year are available now. Morning Program is $200 for the whole school year, and After School is a sliding scale from $75 for the whole year to $360/month.

Forms and more information are available in the main office for both these programs. After School and Morning Program forms available here as well.

Lakeshore Community Picnic

Leopard Buck Store: Amazon Wish List
We are in need of new items for the Leopard Buck store for the new school year! As some of you know, Leopard Bucks are given to students when they are showing any of the three "B"s of Lakeshore (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible). Students can then spend their Leopard Bucks at our Leopard Buck store. We are in need of new items for the upcoming school year.

Please take a look at our Amazon wishlist https://amzn.to/2BrrFWw and donate if you can! We are also happy to take donations of other child/school friendly items you may have at home, just check in with Ms. Sadja in the office!
Want to include something in the next edition? Please complete the PPP Submission Form here bit.ly/pppsubmit no later than Friday at noon with final content. Thank you!
Parking and Drop-Off Tips
Street parking is available in the neighborhood, but leave 10-15 minutes extra in the morning as neighborhood streets get congested. Please do not park in the white zone in front of the school at the beginning and end of they day as that area is reserved for buses.

If you will be at school for more than a few hours, check posted signs since many streets have 2-hr parking restrictions. There are often spots on Gellert and Eucalyptus west of Middlefield without 2-hour restrictions.

We have a drop-off zone on Eucalyptus at Middlefield where upper-grade students escort children from your car to the yard between 9:15 and 9:30. If your child’s car seat is on the driver’s side and your child cannot climb over obstacles to get to the curb-side door (such as a sibling’s car seat), please wave visibly to the student volunteer to help open the driver’s side door. DO NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR as this impedes the flow of traffic. Drop-off zone may be most suitable for students in grades 1-5 who are more familiar with the school.
