Hello. Long time no see.

Well here it is, the first House of Deadleg newsletter. I've been threatening to make one for ages and I finally got round to it, and at some point in the distant past you must've signed up to receive updates from me. You lucky thing you!

If you're a regular visitor to my website — or if you follow me on social media — then you may have already seen some of my recent projects. But hopefully I've kept enough close to my chest that there are a couple of surprises in here that you didn't already know about.

The Poster Prize for Illustration 2019 – London Stories
This year I decided to enter the Poster Prize for Illustration 2019 — a poster design competition jointly organised by the Association of Illustrators and London Transport Museum — on the theme of "London Stories".
Artists were invited to enter artworks inspired any of the thousands of stories about or featuring London, real or fictional. My entry was based on the phantom number 7 bus that is sometimes seen driving around Ladbroke Grove, West London.

Join the gang!

Everyone likes being part of a group, right? A gang. A club. An organisation. A coalition. That's why I've created the Diamond Hand Gang.

What is the DHG? It's just a bit of fun with a groovy logo and a catchy name. You in?

I've recently added a DHG branded mug to my store over on Mercht. If you're into coffee and illustration, it'd be great if you'd swing by and maybe pick one up.

Book review

Every so often I write book reiews for the AOI. My last review was for "The Golden Secrets of Lettering" by Martina Flor. If you're interested in getting into lettering it might just be worth a read.

Guild of Media Arts

Pass me my beard and a tankard of mead! It feels a bit like I've stepped into an RPG or a Zelda game, but I recently joined York's newest guild (the first new guild in the city for around 700 years!) after attending an inspiring summer social event.

I'm really looking forward to meeting other members and hopefully making a meaningful contribution over the coming months and years.

Instagram

I quite often add posts to Instagram showing sketches, works-in-progress and the like. Below are a few recent posts that you've missed if you're not already following along.
