Dear Friends and Supporters,

Current heatwaves, droughts and forest fires across the globe remind us that climate change is tightening its grip. But shocking headlines aside: we have the tools for change in our hands! The way we treat our land does not only affect food security, but also plays a vital role in climate change mitigation.
I am Ina Neuberger Wilkie and I am leading the World Future Council’s projects on sustainable ecosystems and food security in Africa. I am based in Windhoek, Namibia. With the City of Windhoek, we develop sustainable food systems that provide healthy and affordable food to all people in a human rights-based framework. Our Farm Okukuna is at the centre of these activities: 32 women and 8 men currently engage in a “Food Growers’ Course”. We are using Permaculture to empower local communities to create a safe, climate-resilient environment for themselves. Farm Okukuna now offers the opportunity to provide a local centre for a number of programmes on food and nutrition security, including growing food, marketing it, and engaging on nutrition. Our aim is to further expand this project, to give people options for a better life in Windhoek.

I hope you will enjoy this Newsletter!
Best wishes, Ina Neuberger-Wilkie
