August marks exactly half-century from the Soviet-led invasion and the dramatic end of Prague Spring in 1968. If you have not seen the outstanding photos from these days by Josef Koudelka in Botanique, this week is the last opportunity! Few weeks later, we will commemorate the events of 1968 also by an exhibition and a discussion of journalists and historian in the European Parliament. And finally, you are invited to a concert of the popular band Clarinet Factory – this time in the highly original premises of Hight Voltage Lab of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

> Exhibition on Prague Spring and the 1968 Invasion

Czechoslovakia of the second half of 1960s nurtured a hope for “Socialism with a human face”. The era of innovative artistic creations and vivid discussions about political perspectives was brutally ended by the Soviet-led invasion in August 1968. What exactly triggered it? And what followed? These questions will be addressed by the exhibition dealing with the context of 1968, and during a debate of Czech and Slovak historians specialized on the era.

> Clarinet Factory at the festival Hide&Seek in Brussels

The ‘Clarinet Factory’ is a Czech quartet composed of Jindřich Pavliš, Luděk Boura, Vojtěch Nýdl and Petr Valášek. These 4 musicians describing themselves as a factory are more than able to vibrate the impressive spheres of the ULB High Voltage Laboratory without any amplification! Their music is of the classic genre, minimally influenced by jazz and by their love for the music of the world.

> Czech artists at the group exhibition “Somewhere in Between“

A travelling exhibition “Somewhere in between“, organized as a part of Trauma & Revival project, brings multiple realities of art practices from all over Europe to Belgium. The exhibition consists of works by artists from Central, North, South and Eastern Europe, from Baltic to Balkan. It is both a meditation on the identity of East and West and an attempt to gather stories, experiences, relations and encounters from a wide range of artists, curators and other engaged individuals. There are 18 Czech artists presented within the exhibition, making it one of the biggest showcases of Czech visual art in Brussels so far.
