Parks and Rec: South Knox Urban Gateway Park-Make It Yours!

In her April 27, 2018 State of the City Address, Mayor Madeline Rogero proposed a $10 million investment to create a gateway park and entrance to South Knoxville  and the Urban Wilderness at the southern end of the James White Parkway. This new park proposes to include amenities such as a landscaped access point, parking, pedestrian and bike pathways and trails, a bike park, and additional children’s nature play areas. The City is eager to hear from South Knoxville families and outdoor adventurers about what amenities they most want to see as the new Urban Wilderness Gateway Park is being created. Click here to learn more.

Feast! Feast With The Beasts Saturday, August 11 at 7 PM - 10:30 PM Knoxville Zoo

Paddle: City Lights Night Paddles Saturday, August 18, 7-10pm at Billy Lush Boards and Brew-Volunteer Landing

Come paddle on the Tennessee River as the sun sets behind the downtown Knoxville skyline. The night lights from the city create a unique paddling experience only offered at Billy Lush. Each renter is provided with a LED light to keep you safe on the water. We carry all rental equipment you need and have staff on the water to answer any questions you may have!

Walk-ins are welcome, but please note,they cannot guarantee equipment will be available.  We advise everyone book in advance to secure your spot! Click here for info.

Funday: Sunday Funday SoKno Style! Sunday, August 19,2PM at Suttree Landing Park

The second annual Summer Supper Sunday Funday! Participate in a combination bus and walking tour of SoKno’s hidden gems, historic venues, and exciting reutilizations of space. Along the way, get inspired by Jack Neely’s strange but true stories and RB Morris’s dynamic retelling of local legends, taste some flavors from some of SoKno’s best eateries and breweries, and discover Knoxville’s history, all in downtown’s backyard. Festival: 5th Annual Knoxville Asian Festival Sunday, August 26th 2018 11AM - 6PM at Market Square

Don’t miss this wonderful celebration of Knoxville’s Asian culture. There will be authentic food vendors with cuisine from Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, India, Burma, Korea, China, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, and Taiwan. Lots of kid-friendly activities! Drum and dance groups representing many Asian countries will be there along with the mayor and delegation from Knoxville’s Sister City-Muroran City Japan! Looking For Downtown Parking?

Find a spot in a municipal garage or lot for free parking on nights and weekends.

Over 5,500 parking spaces are free all weekend and free weeknights when you enter after 6pm. If you're planning a visit during the day in the middle of the week, many of these garages are $1 per hour with a maximum charge of $7 per day. Some are free 24/7. Find details at downtownknox.org/parkfree.
