BOOKSTOP
We’re settling into the new space and have an exciting lineup of regular and special events lined up! On August 11 we'll host several local Lowcountry authors for a joint reading and signing, and this fall get ready for recurring bookish fun like:

Speak Easy Open Mic

Friday, September 28, will be the inaugural Speak Easy Open Mic: a chance for local writers, poets, and musicians to share their work live!  Join us in the backyard on the fourth Friday of every month for a lively, local, lovely time.

Sign-ups open with the store at 10 a.m. and go until curtain time at 7 p.m.

Late Night @ Bookstop

Join us Fridays this fall for some after-hours activities at the store. We encourage you to patronize one of the many fine establishments in the East Montague shopping district for drinks and treats to enjoy in the backyard, alongside music and the occasional pop-up seller.

Books & Booze: A Weekly Happy Hour for the Inebriated Reader

We've hand-chosen our favorite drink-related new titles and teamed up with local purveyors from The Brew Cellar, Stems & Skins, Accent on Wine, Commonhouse Aleworks, and Nippitaty Distillary to present Books and Booze: A Weekly Happy Hour for the Inebriated Reader. Every Tuesday from 4-6, our local drink experts will be on hand to discuss the inner-workings and history of these concoctions AND pour samples from these highly-anticipated titles. As always, our booksellers are just waiting to tell you more about the book, author, and all bookish cocktail inquiries.

Have kids and want to come? We've got you covered! From 4-5 we'll offer story time for the kiddos while the parents mingle.

Teen & Pre-Teen Advisory Reading Councils

We’re thrilled to launch our pre-teen and teen advisory councils: extra-curricular reading programs in which participating students will read and review new middle grade and young adult books before they are officially published!  The goal of this council is to encourage independent reading and critical thinking in participating students (and help us curate our Middle Grade and YA sections!).

Members of the reading councils will get one review copy per month and be expected to read and write a review of the book. Every month, a bookseller will lead the council meetings in-store to discuss their books.

The first meeting will be September 10 (3:30 p.m. for Pre-TAC and 4:30 for TAC). Encourage the gifted readers in your life to apply on our website today!
