School supplies drive. During August we will be collecting school supplies for Lutheran World Relief ProjectPromise. The Outreach Committee has purchased bags and is asking members to donate the school supplies to fill them. Instructions on what to donate are available online. Please place supplies in the tub on the Outreach kiosk. If you have questions, please contact Lori Anderson.
Grace Café. September means yearly programming begins, including Grace Café. We have been incredibly blessed to hold monthly dinners at the home of Jesse Grimmer and Laura Hopkins to raise money for our youth programs. The youth especially enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills in the kitchen and the true meaning of having a servant's heart. This year we need your help. Due to some career changes, Jesse and Laura will be moving to Fort Worth. While they are still graciously continuing on with their tradition of preparing and serving these amazing dinners, we are in search of people who can host one or more dinners at their home. The plan is to hold dinners on September 15, October 13, November 10, December 8, January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13, and May 11 if there are enough host homes. Please note that host homes should be able to accommodate 8-10 dinner guests, as well as youth participants to help prepare/serve the meals, and be available from 3-9 p.m. If you're interested or have questions please contact Taylor.
The 12th Annual Men's Group Dove Hunt will be September 14-16. Abiding Grace Men's Group and Calvary Men's Group will be meeting in Roscoe, Texas. This event is for all men 16 years old and above, and the cost is only $40 which covers food. We hunt four times: Friday evening, twice on Saturday, and once on Sunday. You can attend whatever fits your schedule. It is a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors and fellowship. Some men come out and do not hunt, coming for the enjoyment and camaraderie. An email was sent to all men with details. Please let Mark Etheredge or Jerry Court know if you will be attending since they need a head count soon.
Sunday School help! With September right around the corner, we are planning this year of Sunday School and need your help. We practice "team teaching," so the schedule is a little more flexible. All of the curriculum is provided for teachers. If you are interested in teaching or being a substitute, please let Taylor know.
Church Council planning session. The Church Council is conducting a planning session on August 18 to establish areas of focus for the next year. If you have suggestions that you would like to be considered, please contact one of the Church Council members below prior to that meeting.
Join us for a night of fellowship, food and music on Wednesday, August 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary to learn some new hymns! Please bring a snack food or entree with cheese. Invite your friends!
High School Hangout. Sunday nights are for the high schoolers! On August 26, help us kick off the new school year with a fun evening at Main Event in Grapevine. Meet us there at 5:30 p.m. for pizza, bowling, and games! Let Taylor know if you plan on attending.
