July 2018
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

It is wonderful to be writing to you once again. We have been doing fine. The weather has been wet yet hot and humid too. But we are grateful that the river has not risen much at all yet! In years past whilst living in our old home we had to worry every year about flooding. It was always so stressful when monsoon season arrived. So it has been a relief in someways that this year we don't have to worry so much, but we still hope and pray that it will not flood for the sake of those who are living in flood zones, even from heavy rains, not to mention the river overflowing!

We have all seen God show His love, power and saving grace, especially this month as we see all over the world, but especially here in Thailand with the rescuing of the boys trapped in the cave. I'm sure all of God's children have been pouring out their hearts praying on behalf of these boys, and He has faithfully answered our prayers.
Update on the Emmanuel Bible School
This Bible School began back in 2008 in a shanty bamboo hut. After a few years they tore down the structure because it was falling apart. They rebuilt it again making it bigger to accommodate the growing number of students. As the years have gone by, they have again outgrown their capacity, so that is why they wanted to and needed to build a concrete structure this time, as a more permanent build but large enough to accommodate the growth. So began the prayers and efforts of the surrounding communities and churches, pooling funds to begin constructing this school. However, they are finding it hard to finance this project alone, so they have asked for help. When we left for the States last year, they had finished building up to the 2nd floor, but the urgency of finishing the building was a pressing matter, so the community and the Christian Churches came together again to raised whatever money they could to start the 3rd floor. It is done. Now we need to start on the 4th and final floor. They contacted us to let us know they still need about $20,000 to complete the 4th floor. Please, please help us with this. So many people are learning the Word of God and being saved through this project.
● 1st floor will be all classrooms.
● 2nd floor will be for the staff and teachers' living quarters and offices.
● 3rd floor will be the girl's dorm and living quarters for the dorm parents.
● 4th floor will be the men's dorm and living quarters for the dorm parents.

In the pictures below you can see that they have built three (3) stories. But due to lack of funds, they have not been able to build the 4th floor except the tiny room that the yellow arrow is indicating. We have been helping to support as much as we can on a monthly basis since it began in 2008. Please help us finish the 4th floor which is the Men's Dorm.

He is very dedicated!
Since we returned from the States, Joel has gone into Burma multiple times to evangelize, preach, teach, and reach out to the lost and persecuted Shan people. He has also worked closely with Pastor Saithoon to procure the land for the Hostel. Now that we have it, work has begun on putting in the cement posts and barbed wire all around the property. Above is a progressive view of the work being done on the land and pictures of the Shan language Joel is in the process of learning how to read, write, and speak.

With sincere thanks and appreciation to all,
Joel and Marilyn Khopang
