FMO celebration concert

To kick off the 32nd annual conference, FMO is thrilled to present some Toronto downtown fun raising at the community hub for folk, Hugh’s Room Liveon Tuesday, September 25.

Heading up the night is renowned soul rocker Julian Taylor, with more guests to be announced in the coming weeks.  

The concert supports Folk Music Ontario as an Arts Service Organization dedicated to supporting the growth and development of the folk music community and industry.

Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door

Private showcases extended
to August 14 

Interested in hosting a showcase? A few spaces are still available. Private showcases are:

  • Hosted by anyone who applies and pays the fee
  • Late-night (11:30pm-3:00am on Friday and Saturday nights)
  • Held in hotel rooms on designated showcase floors
  • Acoustic only

Volunteers wanted

There is still space for a few more conference volunteers! A great way to get involved in the conference, volunteers work in several areas: registration, exhibit hall, instrument lock-up, showcase rooms, and more.

In return for working three 4-hour shifts over the conference weekend (September 27-30), volunteers receive complimentary conference registration (and an official FMO volunteer t-shirt!).

Art Beat applications

Would you like to perform at a school, hospice, community organization or correctional facility during FMO’s annual conference?

If the answer is yes, check out FMO's Art Beat. Each selected participant is matched with a small audience at a shelter, hospice, school or community organization to perform a 45-minute daytime set in an intimate, acoustic setting on Thursday September 27 or Friday September 28. No extra gear required!

Selected artists receive a $100 credit toward future FMO purchases. Art Beat artists are also invited to a private reception to share their experiences (read: beer and pizza!).

Call for applications - Folk Alliance

FAI official showcase applications are closing on August 15. These jury-selected nightly concerts feature emerging artists and touring legends from around the world, performing for hundreds of music industry representatives who attend the conference. Applicants are guaranteed a discounted conference registration rate regardless of Official Showcase award status.
