What's New?

Some time ago a few of you (my early subscribers) read a newsletter basically telling you it would be all text-based, because that was what came with the site. Well, heck, I already had a MailChimp account for patrickswenson.net, my author site, so it made sense to do a new list via MailChimp for Fairwood, and reconfigure the newsletter signups on the website. It also meant importing subscribers from the old system to the new system, and hopefully you didn't get blindsided by a weird email or something. Again, don't worry. I won't be throwing these newsletters at you every week.

I signed up a bunch of new folks while out and about at two conventions over the past two weeks, so I decided not only to change up the system, but put together a quick HELLO HOW ARE YA newsletter for our new subscribers. Those of you who read either of the two earlier text-based ones, there might be some overlap. Bear with me.
The new Michael Bishop book The Sacerdotal Owl and Three Other Long Tales is out, and although there was a slight delay in the signed and numbered hardcovers, I'm getting preorders out. Have no fear, we've still got plenty of copies left at this early point in the run. These are signed and numbered by the author, and limited to 250 copies. Many thanks to Bill Schaffer at Subterranean Press for a nice mention in his own newsletter. Of course, there's a trade paperback edition of the Bishop title as well. You can find both versions easily on the website.

F. Brett Cox's The End of All Our Exploring: Stories dropped this week as well. In fact, we had it at Worldcon, and Brett was there to help sell copies and sign them. Although readers who preordered have had to wait a little to get theirs, the added benefit is that their copies will be signed! The book received a fabulous starred Publishers Weekly review that proclaimed that "there's not a disappointing tale in the bunch."

Clicking any cover will take you to the book's ordering page.
Announcing a Fairwood exclusive! Paranormal Bromance is a limited hardcover novella set in Carrie Vaughn's bestselling Kitty Norville series. (And if you've not read those, starting with Kitty and the Midnight Hour, well you should get started!) Carrie recently won the Philip K. Dick Award for her novel Bannerless.

Preorders are open for this title. There will only be 500 COPIES. They'll be signed and numbered by the author. They'll be printed offset, with glossy dust jacket. So click the cover image and you'll be taken to the order page.

I'l be debuting this book at MileHiCon in Denver in October!
Another book that came out last week is the 20th Anniversary Edition of Ken Rand's writing book The 10% Solution.

Updated with a fresh cover and a new introduction by SFWA President and fabulous writer Cat Rambo, The 10% Solution is proof positive that effective writing books can come in small packages.

”Think of [The 10% Solution] as a lint-brush, something that tidies things up and makes sure every sentence that you’re sending out into the world to represent you is doing so beautifully.”
—Cat Rambo, author of Beasts of Tabat

Oh wait...did you forget to preorder PARANORMAL BROMANCE?

At the conventions I sold books at, I added a bunch of subscribers. I'll be drawing a name from each for the promised prize of a limited edition book from Fairwood's catalog.

Those tiny colored buttons below will send you to various venues where I often talk of Fairwood goings-on: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and my website. You'll find a link to my email as well.
