Lutz Preparatory School K-8 NEWSFLASH, V7 Issue 8, August 24, 2018

Dear Lutz Preparatory Families,

Thank you yet again for another wonderful week at Lutz Prep.  We are so grateful to the parents who have shared the positive experiences their students have had these first 2 weeks of school.  The smiling faces walking through the front doors in the mornings are one of the best parts of our day!  How rewarding it is to see and hear stories this early in the year how our students are applying the 7 Habits throughout the school day.  Their examples are truly making an impact on not only others around them, but the school as a whole.  As we continue to both embrace leadership and a sense of community, we look forward in our continued partnership with our parents for another successful school year.

Some families have shared questions regarding the new uniform policy that we originally communicated to our families back in March of 2018; (this new policy will be fully in effect beginning the 2019-2020 school year). The changes in the policy have been made in the spirit of belonging and inclusiveness.  Lutz Prep students are a member of a cohesive team that strives to collaborate together to create win-win opportunities.  Having students in uniforms that include identical polos helps to create an environment that strengthens collaboration while still celebrating student’s personal individuality.

Ultimately, the new vendor (Red’s) is being used to do away with polo’s with different shades of blue or gray, and different styles that currently occur due to shirts being purchased from multiple companies and stores. One vendor is also being used to create a learning environment free of economic differences.  Uniformity helps to reduce the perceived hierarchy students can encounter amongst their peers with social and/or economic barriers (logo vs. non-logo, name brand vs. generic, etc.).

As Henry Ford best said:

“Coming together is a beginning; Keeping together is progress; Working together is success.”

We look forward to continuing our journey of working together for all of our students’ success.

Go BOLTS!

Important Information from the Office

Student Arrival
Students must remain in their cars under parental supervision until Administration opens the doors and safety patrol reports to their stations on the sidewalk at 7:30 AM; marking the official start of the school day.  We have quite a few instances of students/parents gathering in the front courtyard area prior to 7:30 AM.  This causes the car lines to start looping prior to our staff and safety patrol being on duty ready for student arrival.  Please review the handbook for any questions regarding the arrival process.
Emergency Card Updates:  Change of Address
Please make sure you keep the office up to date on all changes to your personal contact information:  phone numbers, emails, addresses, secondary emergency contacts, etc.  Please email admissions@lutzprep.org with changes.

If your address changes you must provide proof of residency documentation to our registrar.  Anyone who changed their address on the emergency cards the first day of school will be contacted individually by our registrar before their address can officially be updated.

Proof of Residency Requirements for Hillsborough County Schools:

Verification of parent/legal guardian proof of residency by two of the following documents are required if you are offered and accept a seat at our school.

  • property tax receipt or proof of homestead exemption (Primary source of verification);
  • current electric bill;
  • contract for purchase of home;
  • warranty deed; or
  • lease agreement

A new application is available on July 1, the start of a new school year.

After School Activities
Click HERE for the full communication that was sent last week.

Lutz Preparatory offers a variety of options for after school activities for our students.   Please view the details for our LP Before & After Care along with a variety of vendor based programs located on our LP campus after the end of the school day.

With the exception of LP Before & After Care, the after school activities are run by outside vendors, so families are asked to fill out any forms required and contact the vendor directly with any questions.  Please check out new options for Middle School Students grades 6th-8th!
  • Transition from end of school day to after school activity:  Teachers are provided rosters for after school vendor participants to ensure students are transitioned to the correct vendor check-in area at dismissal.
  • Dismissal for LP Before & After Care and all Vendor Based programs is located in the preschool building.  Parents must park and walk in to the Pre-Prep building with their official LP Dismissal Tag to check out their student at the end of each program.

Please note, Lutz Preparatory is not responsible for the contents or reliability of any websites of the after school vendors to which we provide links to and do not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them.
