Katherine Tully, Ph.D., assistant professor of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, was awarded $1.1 million by the National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) to further her research on sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
The Workshop on Society and the Environment provides a meeting space for UMD community members with common interests. Run as a seminar series, it engages graduate students and faculty to present research in-progress and prepare collaborative projects. In Fall 2018, the workshop will be held once a month on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12pm at the Art-Sociology Building.
Get all the information you need to get around campus in the Fall 2018 Campus Connections guide from the Department of Transportation Services. Learn more about Shuttle-UM routes, biking, UMD Smart Commute, and more.
Dr. Stephanie Lansing, associate professor of Environmental Science and Technology, shares her sustainable Fearless Idea about how waste from the Chesapeake Bay can clean and sustain the Port of Baltimore.
UMD's incredible partnership with the Prince George's County Composting Facility was recently featured in Waste360. In 2017, the university delivered 950 tons of compostable material to the facility.
