Weekly Meeting

Love is Understanding

"If you want your loved ones to be happy, you must learn to understand their sufferings and their aspirations. When you understand, you will know how to relieve their sufferings and how to help them fulfill their aspirations. That is true love. If you only want your loved ones to follow your own ideas and you remain ignorant of their needs, it is not truly love. It is only a desire to possess another and attempt to fulfill your own needs, which cannot be fulfilled in that way."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh, Old Path White Clouds

Today

Summer Day of Mindfulness

We joyfully look forward to our Day of Mindfulness today Saturday, August 25th at Bonniespring farm in rural Kingston. Thank you to everyone who registered for the day's program and those who have offered to help drive in the car pool from KUF. We had such a good response that some drivers were not needed. If anyone has any issue on the way to the farm or needs to reach us, you can call Keith's cell 613-583-0830. Peace and joy to everyone in your practice today.
Kinds of Food

"All the sounds around us and all the thoughts that we’re constantly replaying in our minds can be thought of as a kind of food. We’re familiar with edible food, the kind of food we physically chew and swallow. But that’s not the only kind of food we humans consume; it’s just one kind. What we read, our conversations, the shows we watch, the online games we play, and our worries, thoughts, and anxieties are all food. No wonder we often don’t have space in our consciousness for beauty and silence: we are constantly filling up on so many other kinds of food."

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
