But for some, the obstacles accumulate.

English Language Learners (ELLs) must not only acclimate to a new country, culture, and language, sometimes without their parents or relative. They also have to adapt to a school curriculum and culture designed for native speakers.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the percentage of ELLs in kindergarten is 16.3%. By Grade 12, they are only 3.9%.

Through your donations, Humanities Amped is keeping ELL students in school -- and on track to graduate.

Humanities Amped supports 3 cohorts of students, providing:

- an additional teacher in ELL English classes
- classroom instruction focused on action research centered on students' lived experiences
- small group and individual counseling in partnership with La Solucion Familiar (LSF)
- a family outreach coordinator
