Scholastic Book Fair Next Week

JOIN US IN THE MEDIA CENTER for our first Scholastic Book Fair of the 2018-2019 school year!
BOOK FAIR HOURS:
Monday, August 27: 7:00am-6:00pm
Tuesday, August 28-Thursday, August 30: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Friday, August 31: 7:30 am - 12 Noon
Come eat lunch with your scholar, shop our great selection of age appropriate books, and help us earn books for our media center!
If you would like to shop in the morning before school or in the afternoon during dismissal, please go through the car line first then park in the front parking lot.

VLPRA Fall Sports Deadlines Extended
|

|
VLPRA Fall football, cheerleading, soccer, baseball, and softball registration has been extended through August 26th.
SCA is on its way to making football teams in all grades and we would love to have SCA represented this year. Last year's flag team made it all the way to the championship last year!

Welcome Keri Wilkin - SCA's Family & Community Outreach Coordinator

Join us in welcoming Keri Wilkin to the SCA family. Keri will be serving as the Family & Community Outreach Coordinator. Her goal is to connect our school and families with community resources that can be beneficial and helpful. She will also be coordinating volunteer and parent involvement opportunities throughout the school year. Be on the lookout for a newsletter in your Monday folders. We will also be sharing information and community resources in this email each week. If you know of any resources that SCA families may benefit from, please reach out to Keri at kwilkin@scintillacharteracademy.com

Please remember, any scholar transportation changes must be provided to the school in writing no later than 2:00 pm daily unless an emergency situation occurs. These changes can be sent to homeroom teachers in a written note, to your scholar's teacher via email or to our front office personnel via email or fax. Teacher and front office email addresses can be found on our website.

Military Connected Family
|
|
|
|
You should have received a form in your scholar's Monday folder regarding military connected family information. If anyone in your household is connected to the military, please complete the form and return it to your scholar's homeroom teacher by Friday, August 24th.
|
|
SCA's Parent Portal is now online. You should have received an access code in your scholar's Monday folder yesterday. Parent Portal is self-service, therefore you must have a valid email address to access the portal. If you forget your password, you reset it on your own as SCA does not have access to passwords. If you get locked out, please contact SCA at portal@scintillacharteracademy.com and we will reset your access and assign a temporary password.
Parent Portal allows you to do the following:
- View household information. If you have more than one scholar at the school, your key code is the same since it is attached to the parent/guardian.
- Change address and phone numbers and other contact information
- Add/Remove persons authorized to pick up your scholar
- View attendance
- View schedule
- View lunchroom balances (option to pay online will be in the near future)
It is important to follow all instructions after you enter your access code including:
- Make sure you set your account under your name and not your spouse’s name or other guardian.
- Use your complete email address as your user name.
- Use the same email address that you use to communicate with SCA. Failure to enter a complete email address as your user name will result in delays should you experience problems with your Portal access.

As a reminder our dismissal begins at 3:05 pm. Now that the car line has stabilized, it should end around 3:35 pm. If you arrive after this time, you will need to park and come inside to get your scholar. Be sure whoever is picking the child up has either the car rider placard or their picture ID.
Beginning today, scholars who have not been picked up by 3:45 pm will be taken to IGNITE and charged $1.00 per minute to cover the cost of snacks and school staff.

Please make every effort to have your scholar dressed in the proper uniform each day. Please visit our website for complete information about our uniform requirements and vendors.
Arrow Screenprinting currently has uniform shirts in various sizes in stock and ready to go home with you today at their store located at 2003 W Gordon St.
If your uniforms are still on order, please be sure your child wears khaki bottoms with the appropriate color shirt for the day. Scholar should wear the following colors: Monday: Red, Tuesday: Gray, Wednesday: Blue, Thursday: Lime Green, Friday: Free Dress Day.
