The City of Portland, Oregon restored Johnson Creek in Westmoreland Park. Now salmon and beaver have returned. A great example of building local resilience in an urban setting.

Report on California Climate Adaptation Forum 2018
 
Our managing partner, Marianna Grossman, attended the California Climate Adaptation Forum (CAF 2018) during the last week in August. More than 750 people engaged in in-depth workshops and panels exploring a range of topics from social justice and equity to addressing sea level rise, organizing for resilience and a wide range of useful tools for taking action.
 
Excellent resources for communities and businesses:
California’s 4th Climate Change Assessment Report includes 9 regional reports with in-depth information for local jurisdictions, issued on August 27, 2018. This assessment contributes to the scientific foundation for understanding climate-related vulnerability at the local scale and informing resilience actions, while also directly informing State policies, plans, programs, and guidance, to promote effective and integrated action to safeguard California from climate change.
 
Resilient California https://resilientca.org/is a clearinghouse of useful information and tools for elected leaders, planners, business and civic leaders and citizens, as well.

      
Global Climate Action Summit Affiliated Events:
The Healthy Climate Alliance is working with Citizens Climate Education to organize workshops on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Google Community Space in San Francisco.
 
10-12 noon Restoring the Climate: Achievable Solutions
We can restore a healthy climate for future generations. Doing so would require rapidly drawing down and sequestering carbon and protecting Arctic ice. Technologies exist that can accomplish these goals. This panel will explore the mission of restoring the climate and solutions that can get us there.
