Medieval Embroidery at Coombe Abbey
For all of those who came on the stitching retreat at Coombe Abbey last week, Angela and I hope you had a good time! The hotel was certainly a great venue to send us back in time to the medieval period for our two day project on the Opus Anglicanum medieval embroidery technique. Our classroom looked out on to the wonderful gardens and you can see Angela demonstrating on the big screen (see above right).

We try to choose interesting venues relevant to the subject we are teaching and our next one is no exception; join us in November for afternoon tea at the famous Bettys Cafe and Tearoom at Harrogate, oh and some stitching too! If you are heading up for the fabulous Knitting and Stitching show that week then come up a day early and join us for a teatime themed project covering techniques including applique, goldwork and hand stitching.
