iOS 11.4: Now Sync Your Text Messages With iCloud

Hi <<First Name>>,

Let's talk about syncing and managing text messages across your devices in today's edition.

One of the frustrating things about Apple's Messages app on both iOS and Mac was it didn't keep your entire message history updated and available on all your devices, especially when you set up a brand-new device (you only see new messages sent to that iPhone, iPad, or Mac — you won't get any older messages.)

So what ended up happening is messages didn't always make it to every device, especially if your device has been offline for awhile.

Also, if you deleted a message on one device, it didn't delete it on your other devices causing confusion and extra work. (Boo for extra work!!!)

Thankfully, Apple has finally solved this issue by introducing Messages in iCloud for your iOS devices and Mac in iOS 11.4 and the current macOS update.

Now you have a choice to sync your messages to iCloud, which will keep a continuous-backed-up archive of your messages that can be downloaded to any of your devices at any time.

Check this out --  Messages in iCloud even lets you store your messages, photos, and other attachments in iCloud, giving you more local storage space. (I know many of you will appreciate the extra space!)

Plus, when you log into a new device, even if you haven't restored from backup, you'll be able to retrieve the whole archive. (Keep in mind -- if you accidentally delete a conversation in one place, it'll get deleted everywhere.)

Let's take a look at how you set up Messages in iCloud...shall we...
