Clearing the Lane...

Aloha Friends!

I hope everyone is well prepared for the upcoming weather! We have already had a number of market cancellations this week including: Waimea Valley, Waianae Market, and Kailua Market. Kaka'ako market is still on pending weather, however Forage will not be attending (continue reading for alternate market.) As many of you know, we get weekly shipments of meat from the outer islands and unfortunately the docks will be shut down and we will not be able to restock product in time for the weekend. Our fishing boat has also been pulled out of the water and is officially safe on dry dock. 

There is one event that we are still planning on attending unless, which is the GoFarm "Meet Your Farmer" event on Saturday from 10am-2pm which will be held at Bento Homes in Kaka'ako (441 Cooke St.). You will be able to purchase product at this event but it will be limited cuts. I will send out another newsletter on Friday when I find out the details along with what product we will have available. 

Lastly, this week I listened to a great podcast about regenerative farming that I would like to share with you. I believe the future of food security and sustainability will be focused more and more on the health of soil. There is so little understanding about this topic in mainstream media but this podcast does a great job at explaining some of the details and touching on the role of animals in our ecosystem and farming. If we are truly to move in a better direction and continue to feed ourselves, we are going to have to make major changes in how we treat our soil. Soil is the basis of life and is so much more important than conventional agriculture has treated it. Enjoy, stay safe, and I will bring you another update on Friday!
