EVENT SUGGESTIONS FOR THE COMING WEEKS
FuckUp Nights: Conversations about failure and other things@Impact Hub King's Cross
Tue 4 Sep, 18.30-21 FuckUp Nights is a global movement where stories of failed business and projects are told, questioned and celebrated! In each FuckUp Night, three or four fuckupreneurs share their stories of failure discussing what they were working on, what went wrong and what they learnt.
Join us for the sixteenth instalment on Tuesday 4th September. There’s a chance after each story to ask plenty of questions and even the opportunity to get up at the end and share your own story during the open mic session. All of this accompanied by beer and good friends.
Earth Flow Dance With Akiem@thelodge.space Sun 9 Sep, 12-13.30 This will be a class for beginners to dance. Inspired by Contemporary and Caribbean dance, Release Technique, Animal Flow and Yoga. We will seek liberation and flow of movement, by strengthening our grounding to the earth and finding the elasticity of our core. From shifting our weight in lower spaces of gravity, to slicing space, changing levels and textures of movement. We will integrate movement patterns and rhythms, travelling through the room. Inviting an acute focus, finding accuracy, breath and clarity. In an energetic and playful environment we will revitalise our senses, build strength, stamina and open our awareness. Class will be accompanied by live music (beat box). Akiem (aka Toussaint To Move) performed with spoken word at our launch event. Watch his wonderful performance here.
The Forgiveness Project's 2018 Annual Lecture@The Tabernacle London Thu 13 Sep, 19-21 The Forgiveness Project is delighted to welcome the American author, commentator and community organiser Sally Kohn to the UK. As a progressive commentator on Fox News and now CNN, Sally Kohn has made a career out of bridging intractable political differences and learning how to talk respectfully with people whose views she disagrees with passionately. Sally Kohn will be exploring the epidemic of hate all around us - from internet trolls to school bullies, from racist chants to homophobia - and what we can do to repair our humanity. Joining Sally on stage will be three people who have, in uniquely different ways, been affected by hate and prejudice. Their personal perspectives, which come from both the giving and receiving end of hate, will be shared with Sally as they respond to her lecture. The evening will be chaired by author, artist, and award-winning filmmaker, Raoul Martinez. Raoul’s debut book Creating Freedom: Power, Control and the Fight for Our Future.

FINALLY All of you reading this have signed up to co-create The Alternative UK. Respect to you for knowing that an alternative is possible. We need your help and participation but know in return that not everyone has the time to do more than they are already doing. Not everyone can put the political work at the centre of their project – but they hope and wish that someone would. That someone is us. Please support our work so that it will get done – not just in a minimalist, marginalist way, but in a real and connected way that will cause lasting change. A one-off donation helps enormously. But a regular donation is a game changer.
