On 16 October 2018 the ERIGrid project will hold a workshop “Laboratory-Based Services for Smart Grids: Best Practices from the ERIGrid Project” as a side-event of IRED 2018 (8th International Conference on Integration of Renewable and Distributed Energy Resources).
Registration for the ERIGrid workshop is free of charge, registration for IRED is not mandatory. Find out more about the workshop and register here.
Apply for the 5th Transnational Access (TA) Call
until 15 November
Researchers and industrial professionals are invited to apply for free-of-charge access to laboratories of ERIGrid partners. Costs of lab operation and support of the hosting staff are free of charge. Successful applicants' travel expenses, subsistence and accommodation costs will be reimbursed, subject to ERIGrid rules and regulations.

ERIGrid Summer School at DTU on 27-31 August 2018

On 27-31 August 2018 the Technical University of Denmark will be hosting the ERIGrid Summer School on methods for validation of distributed control strategies. This summer school focuses on implementation in the physical laboratory – SYSLAB, one of the ERIGrid laboratories provided for free access.

Visit ERIGrid booth at European Utility Week 2018

Visit us at booth B.n63 in Hall B,
next to the Horizon 2020 Project Zone!

ERIGrid has partnered with the INTERPLAN project and DERlab to disseminate their research, achievements and services at a joint booth at the European Utility Week Exhibition on 6-8 November 2018 in Vienna (AT).

ERIGrid previously cooperated with INTERPLAN when in the first half of 2018 the projects exchanged information on the definition of a use case. Afterwards ERIGrid performed an analysis of the developed use cases for potential use in INTERPLAN. At the European Utility Week 2018, INTERPLAN will present its progress towards the tool development in its workshop “Innovative Grid Operation Planning Tool for TSOs and DSOs” on 7 November 2018.

Outcomes of the TA Project INTREPID
Presented at the CIRED Workshop 2018
This year at the CIRED Workshop on 7-8 June in Ljubljana (SL), Luis del Rio Etayo and Alena Ulasenka from Ormazabal and Ron Brandl from Fraunhofer IEE presented the outcome of the joint research, which had been carried out in autumn 2017 within the ERIGrid Transnational Access (TA) programme.
As a TA user project INTREPID (INtelligent Transformer for Renewable Energy Prosumers Integration and Deployment), the ORMAZABAL researchers tested their smart transformer in SysTec’s Smart Grid laboratory of Fraunhofer IEE. The outcomes resulted in the paper “Assessment of the LVRT Capability of a Smart Distribution Transformer with OLTC for Renewable Applications”. At the CIRED Workshop the researchers presented the poster highlighting the major findings, such as the improvement of renewable energy resource integration by active low voltage management and the robustness of a smart transformer setup due to voltage variation.

TA Success Story: Eval Loggers

Having applied for the ERIGrid TA, the Eval Loggers user group gained access to the Electric Energy Systems Laboratory (ICCS-NTUA) and was able to conduct evaluation of data logger technology and data processing techniques for field testing of small locally manufactured wind turbines.

Find out more here.
"Our ERIGrid Transnational Access represented a landmark in our data-logging projects. It allowed the participants to clearly coordinate efforts in development and also in putting together the necessary knowledge for better data treatment. As a direct consequence, we are now coordinating a data-logging campaign in France for the next two years, which we hope will help us better understand low altitude wind, evaluate current installation practices and diffuse our open-source technology."

- Luiz Fernando Lavado Villa
Leader of the TA user group Eval Loggers
