Staff Changes

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) announces a change to our church staff starting August 14, 2018. Karen Vandiver will be taking over in the office as Office Manager. She will be in the office during the posted office hours Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-3:00pm. Karen replaces Nicole Anderson, who has been in the position since March.

Nicole wants to thank the church for the opportunity to serve in this way over the last few months. She enjoyed working for the church and the time spent there. She noted that the job brought distinct challenges being the pastor's spouse and being employed by the church by saying, "I know that it is the best decision for my family and to allow my relationship with members of this church to remain strong."
All Church Meal This Sunday
Join your fellow church goers in a meal this Sunday (August 19). We will be celebrating new members joining the church and numerous baptisms, and what better way to celebrate than food! The meal will be furnished, just plan to stick around after worship for a meal and community in Fellowship Hall.

Changes to Children's Program Coming

Starting this fall, you will see some changes to our programs realted to children. For many years, our main children's education program was Wednesday Nite Live(WNL). Starting on August 26th, we will be moving our main program to Sunday mornings. KidZone will be the new name of the program and will take place during worship on Sundays. The program will include children ranging from 4-years-old to 6th grade.

Children will attend worship with their families until after Young Disciples Time at which time they will split into two groups. 4-year-olds through 2nd grade will go upstairs for time lead by Lori Long, and 3rd through 6th grade will go downstairs with Pastor Caleb. Both groups will include age appropriate activities, Bible learning, and fun activities.
Town Hall Sessions Scheduled with Bishop on Human Sexuality

The special session of General Conference – scheduled for Feb. 23-26, 2019, in St. Louis – has preoccupied the thoughts, prayers and ministries of many United Methodists. The information shared by all sides in the dialogue over human sexuality can be confusing because of the volume of material and the intricacies of each position.

To help the 220,000 people in our Great Plains Conference churches better understand the issues on all sides and to help maintain our focus on the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. convened the Forward in Unity Process Team. This group of clergy and lay people from across the conference has met several times to discuss ways of ensuring the information related to the special session of General Conference is shared in ways that maintain a collaborative atmosphere and that allow space for the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us all.

To read the full report from the Council of Bishops and watch an introductory video from Bishop Saenz, visit the conference website here.

You’ve read stories and heard the news about The United Methodist Church’s upcoming special session of General Conference to address concerns around human sexuality. Join Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. as he addresses the recent recommendation by the Council of Bishops and leads discussions on this important subject. You’re invited to come listen, learn and, most importantly, share.
