Art Beat gives back...

Art Beat: here's an opportunity for performers who are conference delegates to reach out to the host community, and there still time to apply. Each selected participant is matched with a small audience at a shelter, hospice, school or community organization to perform a 45-minute daytime set in an intimate, acoustic setting on Thursday September 27 or Friday September 28. No extra gear required!

Selected artists receive a $100 credit toward future FMO purchases. Art Beat artists are also invited to a private reception to share their experiences (read: beer and pizza!).

Apply for Art Beat: in English / en francais

Deadline:  Friday August 17, 11:55 pm EDT

Music Canada Live partners with FMO

A message from Music Canada Live:
As proud partners of Folk Music Ontario we are delighted to sponsor the brand-new Setting the Stage Award, which recognizes a club, venue or festival for outstanding contributions to Canada’s live music industry.

Music Canada Live is the voice of Canada's live music industry, advocating and promoting its many economic, social and cultural benefits.  Our members are concert promoters, festivals, presenters, venues, agents, ticketing companies, industry associations and suppliers.

On behalf of our members we:
•    work to ensure funding for the presentation of live music at all levels
•    are the first call for government and media on issues impacting the live music industry
•    are a leader in gathering market research that entrenches the value of live music
•    work to develop a better business and regulatory environment for producing live music in Canada

Folk Music Ontario members are offered a 10% discount on new membership fees.  Contact us or speak to Executive Director Erin Benjamin at the FMO conference about the benefits of membership in Music Canada Live.

We look forward to celebrating Ontario’s vital folk music scene with you!

Volunteers - last chance!

There is still space for a few more conference volunteers. A great way to get involved in the conference, volunteers work in several areas: registration, exhibit hall, instrument lock-up, showcase rooms, and more.

In return for working three 4-hour shifts over the conference weekend (September 27-30), volunteers receive complimentary conference registration (and an official FMO volunteer t-shirt!).
