Welcome Soils for Life
Please join us in welcoming our new associate member Soils for Life. Soils for Life encourages the wide adoption of regenerative landscape management practices to restore landscape health and produce quality and nutrient-dense food and fibre. To inquire about your organisation becoming a PIEFA partner, contact CEO Ben Stockwin.
Congratulations Kelly!
We are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of our Education Officer Kelly Spence's new baby girl earlier this month. Both Mum and bub are doing well, even if Kelly was hoping for a #scienceweek baby! We send our congratulations and best wishes to Kelly and her family.
PIEFA coming to the Top End
CEO Ben Stockwin is travelling to the Northern Territory in September and will be visiting schools and meeting with industry to discuss how best PIEFA can support Food and Fibre education in the NT. Please contact the PIEFA office if you would like to find out more.
PIEFA at AWiA Conference
Last week board member Sarah Thompson presented at the excellent 2018 AWiA Conference as part of the Charity Sponsor competition won by PIEFA. Mrs Thompson gave an inspiring presentation on the merits of food and fibre education and the importance of Primezone.

RAS Foundation Rural Scholarships now available
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation's Rural Scholarships are available to support individuals in NSW who demonstrate a passion for rural communities and commitment for any career that will ensure the future success of rural and regional NSW. Scholarships of $6,000 for full-time study or $3,000 for part-time study are available. Applications close 31 August 2018.

The JB Fairfax Award for Rural and Regional Journalism is a prestigious national award valued at $10,000 that encourages and supports a young university student who is passionate about pursuing a career as a rural or regional journalist upon graduation. Applications close 31 August 2018.

Meet our member schools: RGS
The Rockhampton Grammar School  (RGS) is a K-12 independent school in Central Queensland with fantastic academic and extra-curricular programs. Drought Relief Fund grants $1M
A partnership between PIEFA member the National Farmers' Federation (NFF), Channel 9 and Rotary Australia World Community Service, the 2018 Drought Relief Fund, has announced $1 million in grants to assist farmers in drought. READ MORE

PIEFA member the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is running two hands-on NESA accredited Teacher Professional Development courses in September 2018 that are expertly aligned with the NSW school curriculum.

GPS cows help kids to learn
Central Queensland University's Dr Amy Cosby has been featured in The Land for a range of curriculum aligned learning modules including the GPS Cows program which works to increase STEM and digital literacy skills in high school students.
