DUT EXPRESSES APPRECIATION TO STAKEHOLDERS AT THE WOW DINNER

Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Professor Thandwa Mthembu, encouraged young people to be innovative in order to drive substantial economic growth. He was speaking at the World of Work (WOW) Dinner yesterday, 15 August 2018 at the Ritson Exam Hall, Ritson Campus.

“At DUT we are focused on producing graduates that will not only be employable, but who are also going to become wealth and employment creators,” said Prof Mthembu.

ZAKES MDA TO DELIVER A PUBLIC LECTURE AT DUT

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Writing Centre will host the renowned and multi-award winning author Professor Zakes Mda, who will deliver a public lecture entitled, “Unsilencing an Occluded Cultural and Historical Heritage” on Wednesday, 29 August 2018 at DUT’s Fred Crookes Sports Centre, Steve Biko Campus in Durban.

This public lecture is part of DUT Writing Centre’s efforts to inculcate the culture of reading and writing outside disciplines.

DUT HOSTED A SUCCESSFUL “WOMEN AS AGENTS FOR CHANGE” SEMINAR

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the “Women as Agents of Change: Innovation and Entrepreneurship” seminar at the Hotel School, Ritson Campus on Wednesday, 15 August 2018.

The seminar was co-ordinated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research Innovation and Engagement Office in partnership with Peace Oasis International, aimed at discussing issues surrounding women empowerment.

The Department of Fashion and Textiles at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) aims to emphasises a distinctive relationship between practice and research in the belief that this combination provides the creative tensions necessary for students to achieve their full potential.

Alumni, Aaliya Randaree – known by her fashion label AaliyaArr, who graduated in 2017, is one of the two mentees who has been selected to be a part of the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) Mentorship programme.

Chancellors golf day

DUT CHANCELLOR’S CUP GOLF DAY RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS

The Durban University of Technology Golf Club in collaboration with the Advancement and Alumni Relations department hosted the first edition of the Chancellor’s Cup Golf Day at the Royal Durban Club, Greyville, on Friday, 10 August 2018.

With the aim of fundraising and channelling funds towards the DUT Bursary Fund and Feeding Programme, the tournament had over 80 golfers from KwaZulu-Natal, teaming up against each other.

DUT STUDENTS & EXHIBITORS VIEWS ON WORLD OF WORK (WOW)

Every year the Durban University of Technology Co-operative Education department invites various organisations from different industries to exhibit at the World of Work. The two-day event is not only attended by exhibitors but hundreds of DUT students attend WoW.

Sandile Lukhozi from DUT Communications at the Division of Corporate Affairs attended the opening of WoW career exhibition and engaged with some exhibitors and students to find out their views on this two-day event.
