Test Case XVI
Een Test Case is een gevarieerd programma van presentaties en open studio’s van de artists-in-residence. Bezoekers kunnen van de gelegenheid gebruik maken de studio’s en werkplaatsen te bezoeken, de deelnemers te ontmoeten en het beginpunt, het werk in ontwikkeling, het proces of de resultaten van een residency te bespreken. U bent van harte uitgenodigd op zondag 9 september Sundaymorning@ekwc te bezoeken tussen 14.00 en 16.00. Wij zijn vereerd dat Marijke van Hees, voorzitter van de Raad voor Cultuur, deze dag om 14.00 zal openen.

Huidige deelnemers: Joost Bakker, June Crespo, Helen Felcey, Huang Hung Yu, Thijs Jaeger, Tsehai Johnson, Bettina Möllring, Marieke Pauwels, Yi Fan Li, Priya Sundaravalli, Evita Vasiljeva en André van de Wijdeven. Attua Apparacio, Giulia Bonora, Henri Jacobs, Jan van de Pavert en Gert Jan Prins presenteren werk dat recent bij sundaymorning@ekwc is gemaakt. Erin Tjin A Ton en Gosia Kaszmarek zijn dan net gestart met hun werkperiode.

Test Case XVI
A Test Case is a mixed program of presentations of our artists-in-residence. It gives you the opportunity to visit workshops and studios, to meet the Residents and discuss the starting point, work-in-progress or the results of a residency. Please feel free to visit us at Sunday 9^th September 2018, between 2pm and 4pm. We’re also honored that the openings talk will be at 2pm by Marijke van Hees, Chairman of the National Council for Culture.

Following the opening there will be an opportunity to visit the studio’s of the current participants: Bakker, June Crespo, Helen Felcey, Huang Hung Yu, Thijs Jaeger, Tsehai Johnson, Bettina Möllring, Marieke Pauwels, Yi Fan Li, Priya Sundaravalli, Evita Vasiljeva and Andre van de Wijdeven. Attua Apparacio, Giulia Bonora, Henri Jacobs, Jan van de Pavert en Gert Jan Prins will also present their 2018 EKWC-works. Erin Tjin A Ton and Gosia Kaszmarek just started their residency.

Fontys Cross Labs
Cross Labs is een project van HBO Fontys in Tilburg waar studenten werken aan een bijzondere opdracht. Studenten van de opleiding Docent Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving onderzochten in groepjes het thema “Goed van eten”. Dit leverde veelbelovende en spannende onderzoeken op. Zo onderzochten drie studenten waarom men de voorkeur heeft wijn uit glas te drinken in plaats van uit keramiek. Vervolgens ontwierpen ze een nieuw ritueel voor het drinken van wijn. Ook waren er twee studenten die experimenteerden met het toevoegen van marshmellows aan kleipoeder om een klei te ontwikkelen die elastisch is en niet uithard tijdens het droog proces. In september krijgt dit project een vervolg en sluiten er studenten van de lerarenopleiding Scheikunde aan.

Fontys Cross Labs
Cross Labs is a project of Fontys in Tilburg in which students work on a specific creation assignment. Students of the Bachelor Fine Arts & Education dove into the theme “Good eating from”, resulting in enervating resarches in clay. Three students were curious why people prefer glass glasses for wine over ceramic ones and ended up designing a whole new wine drinking ritual. Two other students didn’t like the common qualities of clay and experimented by adding marshmallows to create elastic clay that doesn’t dry. This project will continue in september when students of the bachelor Chemistry join the research.

Save the date: 26 oktober Moving Futures, symposium
Op vrijdag 26 oktober 2018 vindt in het Fries Museum het symposium Moving Futures plaats. Doel van het symposium is om richtingen te schetsen waarin met name de keramiek productie van serviesgoed zich kan ontwikkelen. Sundaymorning@ekwc is in 2016 gestart met een onderzoek hoe het bedrijfsleven een toekomst in de keramiek winstgevend kan maken, samen met kunstenaars, ontwerpers en culturele instellingen. Het Arita Ceramic Symposium in 2016, dat plaats vond in de Provincie Saga, Japan, gaf een eerste aanzet. Vervolgens is prof dr Carl Rohde gevraagd om voor en met bedrijfsleven, onderzoekers, kunstenaars en ontwerpers een trend onderzoek te doen, een zogeheten Cool Ceramic Hunt. Tijdens het symposium in Leeuwarden zal deze Cool Ceramic Hunt besproken worden. Tickets (€ 95,-) zijn vanaf 1 september 2018 te bestellen via de website van het Fries Museum. Het symposium wordt georganiseerd door het Nationaal Keramiek Museum het Princessehof en maakt deel uit van de BEST-NL Manifestatie (Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo - Nederland).

Save the Date: 26th October, Moving Futures Symposium
The symposium Moving Futures, takes place at the 26^th of October 2018 at the Fries Museum Leeuwarden.The goal of this symposium is to sketch outlines and perspectives in the ways the ceramic production field of tableware could evolve in the future. In 2016 Sundaymorning@ekwc started a research how the industry can make a future in ceramics profitable, together with artists, designers and cultural institutions. The Arita Ceramic Symposium in 2016, which took place in the Province Saga, Japan, gave an initial incentive into this subject. Professor dr. Carl Rohde has been asked to investigate, together with the industry, researchers, artists and designers new trends and opportunity’s for tableware. He will present the results of this Cool Ceramic Hunt at the symposium in Leeuwarden. Tickets (€ 95,-) are available at the website of the Fries Museum, starting 1^st September 2018.
