Please join us for a webinar hosted by the Invasive Mussel Collaborative to examine two case studies in manual removal of dreissenid mussels. This webinar will explore the decision-making process leading to manual removal, operational and logistical considerations and constraints, and lessons learned from a past removal effort and an ongoing removal effort. The webinar will feature presentations from:
  • Dr. Brenda Lafrancois, National Park Service, and Dr. Harvey Bootsma, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
  • Dr. Sandra Nierzwicki-Bauer, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Marc Frischer, University of Georgia
The Invasive Mussel Collaborative is working to advance scientifically sound technology for invasive mussel control to produce measurable ecological and economic benefits. The Collaborative provides a framework for communication and coordination, identifying the needs and objectives of resource managers, prioritizing supporting science, developing communication strategies, and aligning science and management goals into a common agenda.
