Induction Ceremony for Native American Hall of Honor Open to Public
BISMARCK, N.D. — On Thursday, Sept. 6, the public is invited to attend an induction ceremony of three new recipients being recognized in the Native American Hall of Honor located in the State Museum of the North Dakota Heritage Center.
A social will begin with a free traditional feed at 5 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Russell Reid Auditorium of the ND Heritage Center. The Native American Hall of Honor will open after the ceremony. Information relating to each inductee will be featured in this exhibit.
The induction ceremony will recognize Native Americans who have gone above and beyond in representing their tribes and cultures. The program is a partnership of the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission, the State Historical Society of North Dakota, and the State Historical Society Foundation. The program recognizes traditional and contemporary achievements. Inductees include:
1941-42 Elbowoods Warriors Basketball Team/ Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation – Sports/Athletics
Betty L. Gress/ Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation – Leadership
Patrick Moses Gourneau/ Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa – Leadership
