Introducing B Corp Certification & Re-Certification Support Programs by B Local PDX

B Local PDX is proud to announce two new offerings for companies wishing to newly certify as B Corps, as well as companies working on their Recertification process for B Corp. These programs will help guide you through the B Impact Assessment to reach 80+ points.

B Corp Certification Support Cohort Program

Fall 2018

The path to B Corp certification is wide in both depth and breadth, with best-in-class standards and questions designed to poke and prod every angle of your business. The B Corp Certification Support Cohort Program, led by a long-time B Corp champion and expect Mike Mercer of MMercer Consulting, aims to demystify the assessment and help you chart a course to the magic number of 80+ points to become a Certified B Corporation. Over the course of four sessions in six weeks, the cohort will run through all of the relevant details of the B Impact Assessment in a classroom-style setting, while also providing four hours of 1-on-1 assistance to address your specific certification needs. From companies just beginning their certification journey to those close to certification, or even re-certifying B Corps, this cohort aims to help you discover your business’ unique path to creating a durable prosperity for all of your stakeholders.

Inclusiveness and ensuring diverse representation are guiding principles at B Local PDX, with a goal that all companies can participate. To ensure this is possible, B Local PDX is providing financial support to reduce the cost of attendance $400 for at least two minority-owned or otherwise underrepresented businesses. This lower rate is made possible by the support of our community through ticket sales and our Learning Lunch series, along with a reduction in cost from MMercer Consulting as well.

When:
Every other Thursday from 3:30-5:00pm starting September 20th

Cost:
$1,000 per company (up to two representatives per company), with at least two Inclusivity Scholarships spaces at a reduced rate of $400 per company.

B Corp Hackathon

Coming October 2018

Sometimes, you just have to jump in the pool! Bring your key players to B Local PDX’s Certification Hackathon, a free, half-day event where we’ll fill the room with prospective B Corps, re-certifying B Corps, and experts on the assessment--including live support from B Lab. Whether you’re familiar with the assessment or this is your first real opportunity to dig in, this is a great opportunity to measure your score and learn some best practices to aid in certification!

Join us for our August B Learning Lunch, where we will be joined by representatives from The Street Trust, a movement for people who choose to travel and experience the Portland region by biking, walking, or riding transit.

Building power: How we’ll achieve the transportation choices we need

Featuring The Street Trust’s Executive Director Jillian Detweiler and Board Chair Justin Yuen, this B Learning Lunch covers the evolution of our region from a transportation perspective, programs available to help achieve a sustainable transportation future at work, home, and school (including getting B Impact Assessment points), and a chance to give feedback for their upcoming political advocacy priorities.

Enjoy great content, networking, and lunch (lunch is on you, but the Hopworks team does separate checks with grace and speed!) in community with fellow B Corps, prospective B Corps, and others who are passionate about social impact business.
