Invitation to Worship

Sometimes when I’m longing for a familiar meal, I will call my mother to ask for a recipe for something she made for us when I was younger. Often she’ll dictate the instructions to me from memory. A pound of this, a half a cup of that, and a bit of such and stuff. I stop her: “Mom, how much is a bit?” Sometimes she offers a maddening response: “just use enough.”

What in the world is enough? How do I know when I’ve reached that mysterious marker? Will things be ruined if I have too much, or too little? As we continue with our “God’s Economy” series, this week we will talk about how we experience scarcity, abundance, and how we might ever simply have enough. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday at 5 p.m.!

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Jasper Peters

Women of Valor Book Club

Thursday, August 23, 6:30 p.m.

Women of Valor Book Club is a monthly event where we meet to discuss relevant topics over wine, snacks, and each other’s company. Join us and meet the sisterhood of Belong, and come away with new friends and a great conversation. This month, we’ll discussing the episode ”Being Seen“ from the podcast Sonderlust by Sarah Heath. Contact us for location.

August’s One Thing: Metro Caring

Each month, we work to focus our justice efforts as a community in one area. This month, we’re gathering donations for Metro Caring. As Denver’s frontline hunger-prevention organization, Metro Caring meets people’s immediate need for nutritious food while also sustainably addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty.

Metro Caring has several high-demand items that they don’t receive regularly as donations. We’ll be gathering rice and beans and re-packaging them for individual use on Sunday, August 26 following worship service. For more information, contact justin.bullis@belongchurch.org.

If you’d like, bring a tote bag on Sunday with items to help combat hunger and food insecurity in Denver.
