Regional Model Newsletters are meant to keep interested parties up to date on the progress of the Regional Model implementation.

This August newsletter is targeted to the Provost, Vice Chancellors of Admin and Research, Chiefs of Staff, Regional Associate Deans (RADs), Regional Directors (RDs), Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), Chief Unit Officers (CUOs) and Campus Shared Services leaders (CSS).  Please forward to your teams, as you see fit.

REGIONAL MODEL GOALS 
  1. To provide integrated service delivery
  2. To strengthen relationships between academic and administrative units
  3. To create a culture of continuous improvement

UPDATE
Phase I of the Regional Model Implementation is nearing completion.  Phase I involves having all regions Structurally in Place (RAD, RD, CSS Staffing Assigned and Space Identified) and is targeting an end of the year completion. 

Phase II includes: Governance & Communication, Process Evaluation & Refinements, Location Setup, and Continuous Improvement Planning.  These activities begin by region once the RAD and RD are on board.

RAD & RD Hiring
  • ERSO - All set (RAD - Karl van Bibber; RD - Cynthia Weekley)
  • CHaMPS - All set (RAD - Ron Cohen; RD - Samantha Yee)
  • Bio Sciences - All set (RAD - Rebecca Heald; RD - Adam Berke)
  • SS,A&H - RAD appointed (Max Aufhammer); interviewing for RD
  • Prof Schools - Interview for both RAD and RD
  • Region 6 - Regional lead appointed (Peggy Huston); RD interviewing yet to begin
Space Planning
  • ERSO - Remaining as is
  • CHaMPS - Multiple office locations are set up and in use at Lewis and Le Conte/Campbell
  • Bio Sciences - Evaluating space availability at UHall
  • SS, A&H - Evaluating space availability options at Barrows Hall
  • Prof Schools - Evaluating space availability at UHall and Hearst Gym
  • Region 6 - TBD
Governance
  • RAD Team meetings kicked off in August
  • RD Team meetings began in August and will continue to grow as RDs are hired
  • Functional Sub-Groups (HR/AP, RA, F&FS) have been defined and all are expected to begin regular meetings in September

NEXT STEPS - SEPTEMBER
  • Complete Space Planning for Bio Sciences, Professional Schools and Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities
  • Finalize CSS Budget Allocation Model for FY2019
  • Kickoff the Functional Sub-Group team meetings (HR/AP, RA, B&FS)
  • Complete design of the Regions Service webpages
  • Formalize the Process Governance Structure
