Steve's Brain and the Rock
Hi <<First Name>>,

Here's a bit of an update on my brain.

3 months ago I went to the doctor who did my neurosurgery last July to remove a pituitary adenoma, a benign growth on the pituitary gland that had become the size of a walnut. So this past May we were doing a brain MRI after 6 months to see that everything was still okay. My eyesight had completely recovered, and my hormones were all coming back to normal levels with medication.

So I was surprised when he said the outer shell of the adenoma was showing signs of reforming. Now you have to remember that they poked into the adenoma, drained and suctioned out what they could, but kind of left the shell of it like the stump of a busted balloon, still attached to the pituitary. Sitting there in that little space called the optic chiasm, where it had grown to fill and push on the optic nerve causing the blurring vision.

In May the doctor and I agreed to wait 3 more months, take another brain MRI and see what was changing, since the eyesight and hormones seemed to be back to normal.

I just had my visit with the doctor to hear the latest report, and he said, "That thing is a rock! It's not going anywhere." So basically as long as symptoms don't develop, he said I'm good to just see him again in a year. While I walk around perfectly normal with a rock in my head. So amazing!

Thanks for praying for me! Pray that the hard walnut of the adenoma will actually shrink or go away, and anyway that it won't cause any more problems.

Thanks so much everyone!

Steve
