Greetings from O'Brien Guitars

Every year in Colorado there are two guitar related events that have become a tradition for me and many others. Both of them just happen to be in August and they are back to back in the same week. One of them is the Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp. This camp was started by Mike and Pam Harrington and is held in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado. This year participants came from Europe and even Singapore! The amount of talent in the young up and coming players is amazing! The first day of the camp the instructors put on a free concert open to the public. This year's instructors were Grammy winner John Knowles CGP, Brooks Robertson, Jim Nichols, Pat Bergeson and Grammy winner John Jorgenson.
The other one is Guitar Town held at Copper Mountain, Colorado. This free, outdoor two day event has become a must for any guitar lover. I have been involved with the event 13 out of the 14 years of the existence of this great event. I give lectures/demos on the proper feeding and care of the instrument and one of the main topics is how to humidify your guitar and the consequences of not doing so. Colorado is dry folks! I have many videos on my youtube channel with footage of the shows and the popular Q&A and jam sessions with the performers.
Below are some pictures and videos of this year's events. Don't miss seeing the video I shot of the John Jorgenson Quintet playing some of the hottest Gypsy Jazz you have ever heard!  As time permits I will be editing the Q&A and jam session video footage from this year's Guitar Town. Before then though, Spanish luthier, Paco Chorobo,  is showing up from Spain this week and we will be offering a complete Flamenco guitar building course in the traditional building style here at my shop with four students complete with a Flamenco Concert by René Heredia
Keep on Pickin' and Happy Building Folks!
