AUGUST 2018

Cherry Picking is back! And it's next week!

I am so psyched that this amazing group of theater-makers invited me to be part of Cherry Picking's Punk Rock Kid Sister this summer. They asked me and my playwright friend Megan Hart to each write a one act play for the same cast sparked from an assigned rule. My rule was "All bathers must shower before entering the pool."  So (of course) I wrote a 30-minute play called FLOATER that takes place in a lake during a swim test at an adult summer camp.

HERE is a fun little interview I did to celebrate Cherry Picking's 18th year and being a rule-breaker.

My play and Megan's are playing back-to-back on Tuesday night August 28th at Wild Project. There may be a few tickets left, so hit them up HERE.

Long live The Farm Theatre! And Happy Fifth Anniversary! This past month I had the pleasure of workshopping my new play SOFT ANIMALS for three days with the glorious team above. Led by Farm Theatre Artistic Director Padraic Lillis, 6 wonderful NYC actors and teams of teachers, directors, designers and students from Arkansas State University and Pellissippi State Community College came together to work on my new draft and ready it for an exciting year of productions. I'll be posting about the process as the ride continues. For now, back to rewriting!

I'm happy to be presenting my short  play CHECK-OUT as part of the sixth New Masculinities Festival this October at NYC's Lesbian, Gay, BIsexual and Transgender Community Center. The New Masculinities Festival examines the impact of expectations of masculinity on people's lives and imagines new possibilities for gender expression. They use the power of theatre, dance, poetry, spoken word, performance art and dialogue to challenge thinking and transport participants to new worlds and perspectives. Cast and director TBD!

The Collective announced our very ambitious season, and I couldn't be happier that one of the offerings is my play THE NET WILL APPEAR, co-produced with Mile Square Theatre and presented at 59E59 Theatre this December. Check out the announcement on Broadwayworld HERE and see the exciting line up and creative teams!

The Brooklyn Generator just wrapped our SIXTH season of writing full-length plays in less-than-30 days. That's THIRTY-SEVEN plays so far! This season was particularly joyful as it was our All Star season and we invited back five writers that we love to take this crazy ride again. Now, we break for a few months, but we'll back with a whole new team and season in January!
