OCHRS Non-Profit Service Academy Announced (formerly called Leadership Academy)

This is the second year to offer training for the human resource professional to serve on community non-profit boards of directors.  Service is one opportunity to give back to the community as an individual and as a local employer.  This is a six-week course over three months and it is an application-based process.

Learn key leadership and service skills for serving on non-profit boards from experienced members of the professional community. Network with instructors and fellow academy members and learn the following topics:

  •         Crucial Conversations
  •         Understanding By-Laws
  •         Project Management for Board Service
  •         Teamwork on Boards
  •         Understanding Financial Statements
  •         Working with Sponsors
  •         Ethics in Board Service
  •         Developing Membership and Volunteers
  •         Making Presentations for Boards
  •         Diversity on Boards
  •         Everything DiSC for Leaders

Last year, I had the honor of graduating from the first Non-Profit Board Service Academy class designed by OCHRS!  I cannot speak more highly of this program! The curriculum is spot-on preparing professionals to lead and serve their community!  We were a class of fifteen professionals from various industries, who became great friends and colleagues!  In this hands-on program, we gained insight to understanding Financial Statements and Bylaws, we learned to apply the DISC Assessment concept in the workplace, we took the lead as Project Managers, we designed Presentations, and we learned to apply our leadership skills while having those Crucial Conversations that no one wants to have!  This Academy has immeasurable value to anyone in a leadership capacity, and I highly recommend!!  ~Kimmi Houston, Realtor~

Meet OCHRS  Board of Director
Ashley Facio

My name is Ashley Facio, and I am a graduate student in the Organizational Dynamics program at the University of Oklahoma. I’m currently working on my thesis research. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the relationship between retired athletes and non-athletes in the workforce. In doing so, I am inviting you to participate in my study by completing a short survey and to share it with your network. If you participate in the survey, you may also enter into a drawing for two regular season Oklahoma City Thunder tickets to one game during the 2018- 2019 season on the Club Level. Your submission into the drawing is separate from your survey responses. Please be assured that your survey responses will be kept confidential without any direct identifying questions. Thank you for your consideration! Here is the link to the survey:
