40th Season Begins in Two Weeks!
On Tuesday, 11 September, the Burnaby International Folk Dancers will begin the new season. It will be a special evening with Andi Kapplin teaching. Come to the same hall, Charles Rummel Centre, 3630 Lozells in Burnaby, from 6:30 to 7:00 the basics group and regular program 7:00 to 9:30. Fees are $5 for drop-in or $85 for the whole season until early June. Please pay your annual fees starting on September 25.
Send in your dance requests by Sept 4
In preparation for September 11, Andi wants you to send your dance requests to her at andi@kapplin.com. Please limit your requests to two per person. You could use the BIFD dance list as reference. Find it at burnabyfolkdance.org/dances/. Deadline for sending requests is Tuesday, Sept 4.
Volunteers for Coordinating the Dance Programs
If you are interested in helping with doing the evening programs, we are looking for volunteers to be on a small team to organize the basics group, warm-up, teaching, and requests starting in October, please contact Chrisanne at cgpenn@uniserve.com.
Survey
We want to consider the wishes of as many dancers as possible when planning the program. We will have a survey for everyone to fill out online or on paper. More details will be coming about the survey.
Special General Meeting
At the AGM, we decided to present constitutional changes to the membership at a Special General Meeting which will take place on September 18, 6:45-7:15 pm at Charles Rummel Centre. Chrisanne will send a separate email with the notice of Special General Meeting and details of the constitutional changes.

Upcoming BIFD Events
- Sunday, 9 September, 2:00-3:00. Confederation Park track. Participate in the Parkinson’s Walk by carrying our banner around the track. Contact Jane if you are interested in participating at jbkupfer@shaw.ca.
- BIFD season starting Tuesday, September 11, at Charles Rummel Community Centre, 3630 Lozells Avenue, Burnaby. Andi Kapplin will lead the regular program this evening. Thank you Andi! Basic Steps program starts at 6:30pm and the regular program is at 7-9:30 pm.
- Tuesday, 18 September, 6:45-7:15 Special General Meeting, 7:30-9:30 Open House for people to try some dances. This free evening is a good time for friends who may be curious to see what kinds of dances are done in different areas of the world. Help setting up the hall is welcome this evening and every evening.
- Tuesday, 25 September, 7 to 10pm, Robert Bagnoli will be our guest teacher.
- Thursday, 27 September, 7 to 10pm, Roberto Bagnoli will be the guest teacher at SIFD, Walnut Road Elementary School, 16152 82 Ave, Surrey. More info here.
- At Dale’s house, from Sept 28 to 30, Robert Bagnoli is presenting a how-to-teach-folk-dancing workshop at a cost of $160. The maximum number is 20 attendees. Go to daleadamson.com for more information and to register. At the AGM, BIFD decided to sponsor members to attend the weekend. BIFD will sponsor up to $320 which will be split evenly among the attendees. We ask that you commit to some teaching at BIFD. If interested, contact Chrisanne at cgpenn@uniserve.com asap.
