Annual Meeting Notice

Greetings from the St. Louis Park Historical Society!  This is your invitation to our 2018 Annual Meeting at 7pm on Septmeber 11.  Further details are below.

It has been a long time since we last sent our email newsletter, but we hope to get these out a little more regularly again.  We have had a quiet year aside from Parktacular and a few other small events.  Thank you to everyone who has sent in membership dues this year as we are changing back to a more simple-to-administer once a year dues cycle.
As always, if you are looking to get a little more involved please reach out!  We have many ideas and not enough hands.
Annual Meeting
7pm, Tuesday September 11, 2018
SLP Rec Center Gallery Room, 3700 Monterey Drive

Please consider joining us for our annual meeting.  The meeting is expected to be brief, but we will update you on the activities from the past year, share our financial and membership reports, and vote on open Board seats.

We are looking for more Volunteers and Board members, so if you are interested in getting involved - even for a one-time project - please stop in to learn more!
4800 Excelsior

With so much redevelopment happening, we figured we should feature some of the new buildings and share the history of the site.  This picture is at 4800 Excelsior, formerly the site of the Bally's Fitness.  This site is also referenced as 4900 on our own website and in some of the old Bally's information.  Never the less, they are one in the same.  The Bally's was built in 1983 and closed in 2012 before being demolished in 2015 (you can read a bit on the history of the buildings at this location on our website here).  The site was originally where the Engell Dairy sat, and you can read a short memoir about the Engell Family on our website here.

The Depot Luggage Room

Thanks to the Railroad group for organizing and cleaning the Depot luggage room prior to the summer open house, which was very successful!  Amazing how they were able to get everything consolidated and packed away!
We still hope we can get a permanent history building so we can get these files and artifacts in a more accessible location and able to be included in displays.  Then the luggage room can be fully restored to its original look!

Please consider donating to the Building Fund today!  Your support matters!
