We've recently had a training session on visiting Japan. Here's some of our newfound knowledge.
Della's take on Japan...
Japan offers diversity and this beautiful country gives you this in abundance... Cities, Temples, Mount Fuji, stunning gardens and even fabulous beaches, to name a few.
Geoff highly recommends...
A 2 night stay in typical Japanese accommodation "Ryokan" and offers reassurance that the cost of living is not as expensive as you may think. Roughly 90p for a bottle of water, a noodle meal for £5-£6 and a cappuccino around £2.50
Kerry talks tipping, toilets and twinning... - Tipping in Japan is not customary but respect and politeness is expected at all times. Do not be offended if your tip is refused! - Most toilets in Japan have a built in bidet system for spraying your behind, these are known as washlets. They also play music, bird songs and have neon coloured changing lights! - Hakuba, in the Japanese Alps is the country's foremost ski and snowboard resort with over 150 km of slopes. Kerry suggests this makes Japan a fab choice for a twin centre holiday, mixing culture and action.
Laura's top tip...
I would incorporate a trip to see the native snow monkey (macaque) and relax in the hot springs! If you're lucky you might see a monkey bathe too!
From traditional Kyoto to the modern and futuristic Tokyo.
Spend 17 days seeing highlights of Japan including; Mount Fuji, Kinkakuji Temple, Osaka Castle, Snow Monkeys, Japanese Alps, Sumo Wrestling, Zen Gardens and much more.
On the subject of Japan, we thought you might like to know that Bristol Museum & Art Gallery will soon be hosting a collection of 500 Japanese prints.

On 29th August it was reported in national news that taking time off work can help you live longer. A long running study from scientists at the University of Helsinki rreported that those that take less than three weeks holiday a year are more stressed, eat poorly and sleep less. Research also suggests that only 3/4 of us actually use up all of our annual leave entitlement... really?!
An interview on TV also stated that holidays are not a luxury but a necessity and it was suggested that doctors should prescribe holidays... now that we do agree!
