Wednesday is market day! Don't miss it!
Right now we're seeing a crossover of both summer and early fall crops at the Cullipher Farm tent. So we can't tell you exactly what we'll see this week, but there will be plenty of fresh fruits and veggies to choose from. Last week they had both summer and fall squashes, lots of beautiful peppers of different varieties, eggplant, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, white acre peas, four varieties of melons, figs, grapes, plums, blackberries, blueberries, nectarines, peaches galore (including donut peaches), Asian pears, and several varieties of fresh apples!

Pesto Pasta Salad
The Neighborhood Harvest offers locally grown, pesticide-free, non-GMO lettuces, greens, herbs and produce. But there's so much more to choose from...breads and baked goods, Virginia dairy products, honey, pastured eggs, vinegars, olive oil, salad dressings, spiced nuts and more. All delivered to your home or office. Stop by their tent at the market to learn more and get signed up with a special customer offer! This week we share a recipe of theirs that is quick, easy and even great leftover--perfect for busy back-to-school time!
Here's what you need to make this pesto pasta salad:
-1/2 cup toasted pine nuts
-1/2 cup TNH basil leaves
-1/2 cup TNH parsley leaves
-1/4 cup lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
-1 clove garlic, roughly chopped
-1/2 tsp salt
-1/2 tsp black pepper
-1/3 cup TNH piqual olive oil
-1 box bowtie pasta
-1 pint TNH cherry tomatoes
- TNH mesclun mix
Instructions:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook bowtie pasta until al dente. Next, add the pine nuts, basil, parsley, lemon juice, and garlic to your food processor. Slowly drizzle in all of the TNH piqual olive oil until combined. Add salt and pepper to taste. Toss the pasta and halved cherry tomatoes in the pesto and serve over a bed of mesclun!

Like things spicy? The Creative Wedge also makes a Chow Chow Pow--with locally produced Speedy's Hot Sauce added.
