Dear High School Families,
Welcome back to a new school year! It has been an absolute pleasure working with the staff and students of EGRHS over the past few weeks. I appreciate their positive attitude with the early start to the school year. I sincerely hope that your student(s) has made a smooth transition back to high school. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you or your student.

IB DP Class of 2020 Parent Meeting on Monday, September 24 at 6:00 p.m.
Hearts of Gold Football Game on Friday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. This year’s beneficiary is the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Monday, October 1, kicks off Spirit Week for Homecoming. Theme days and lunch time games are scheduled for each day. The Homecoming Court will be announced Monday night at halftime of the annual Junior vs. Senior Powder Puff Game at 7:00 p.m. The community wide Homecoming Parade is Friday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m., a Spirit Assembly will be held on Friday afternoon, the announcement for king and queen will take place at halftime of the football game Friday night, and the Homecoming dance will follow from 9:00-11:00 p.m. on Saturday. We are looking forward to a spirited Homecoming Week organized by the EGRHS Student Council.

Choosing individuals to recognize from among all of East Grand Rapids Public Schools outstanding faculty members is always difficult. But at the annual all-staff opening day celebration of the new school year in August, the Foundation took on that near-impossible task by naming the winners of this year’s Excellence in Teaching Awards and the James and Georgia Nicholas Endowed Award. EGRHS PTO NEWS
The PTO will have its first meeting on Tuesday, September 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Learning Commons. Special guest speaker will be our new Superintendent. Meeting is open to all!
Please join the High School PTO! The High School PTO does not conduct fundraisers, membership fees go towards supporting High School curriculum. You can join through School Pay or by completing this form and returning to the High School office along with a check.

ACADEMIC BOOSTERS
Our first Academic Boosters meeting is Thursday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m. This meeting will provide parents with an introduction to new staff, as well as an overview of useful and important tools (Skyward, Family Connection, Khan Academy). Please join us!

Next Team Boosters meeting is Monday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room across from the high school cafe.

LEADERSHIP AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
LYD was created to offer leadership and youth development opportunities for the students of East Grand Rapids High School. We've had a busy start to the school year so far with our Senior Retreat at Camp Henry, along with the upperclassmen welcoming our freshmen to the high school at Freshman Connection.
