Encouraging Domain Name Registration
 The year has been relatively good for NiRA and the .ng, Nigeria’s online identity on the cyberspace.
We have worked tirelessly to encourage the uptake of .ng domains, acceptability of the .ng online identity in Nigeria and continuous development of DNS industry in Nigeria.
NiRA has hosted several workshop programs (i.e. Resellers training twice this year, Web Designing training using Wordpress and Media College event for the Press, etc.) through the NiRA Academy and the .ng Awards, all to promote awareness of the .ng brand. We also plan to host the .ng Bloggers Summit and the .ng Developers Summit before the end of this year. These initiatives are geared towards the development of the DNS Industry in Nigeria. NiRA has also participated actively in workshops hosted by other parties (NIGF, NCS, CPN, etc) to sensitize the public on the benefits and importance of .ng domain names.

Most consumers search online for local products and services, in short for local contents. Call for Presentations at AFRINIC-29
 AFRINIC-29 will hold from 26 th to 30 th November 2019 at Tunis, Tunisia. The African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) has requested that individuals who wish to make presentations at the event should submit abstracts. The meeting website is now up at https://meeting.afrinic.net/afrinic-29/. The event would be hosted in collaboration with Tunisian Internet Agency (ATI) as the local host. The theme of the meeting is “Taking the African Internet to the Next Level through Policy, Collaboration and Education”. The Tunisian Internet Agency (Agence tunisienne d'Internet) was created on 12 March 1996, is the principal Tunisian ISP. It is run by the Ministry of Communications, whose mission is also to promote Internet usage in Tunisia.

What to Expect During the ICANN Root KSK Rollover
 The Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has published a guide to let people know what to expect when it changes the cryptographic keys that help protect the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS). The changing of the keys, known as the "Root Key Signing Key (KSK) Rollover" is scheduled for 11 th of October 2018. The new ICANN guide is intended for those with all levels of technical expertise and will help everyone prepare for the rollover. This is part of the ICANN’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the rollover and will also share more details on the rollover process.
The guide can be accessed on ICANN’s website. While ICANN expects user impact from the root KSK rollover to be minimal, a small percentage of Internet users are expected to see problems in resolving domain names, which in lay terms means they will have problems reaching their online destination. There is currently a small number of Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validating recursive resolvers that are misconfigured and some of the users relying upon these resolvers may experience problems. This document describes which users are most likely to see problems, and among those - what types of issues they will face at various times.

Internet Governance Forum Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) 2019 Renewal
The Internet Governance Forum Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) has been instrumental in planning the programme of the annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) meetings.
On behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) requests nominations from all stakeholder groups, according to the established principles and practices of MAG rotation and selection of its members. Governments, the private sector, civil society, and the technical communities, are expected to submit names of candidates from developed and developing countries as well as from economies in transition. Successful nominees will become part of the MAG for a period of one year and will contribute to the multi-stakeholder consultation process, bringing the perspectives of their respective groups on Internet governance.

Days 2 - 5 is the annual ngNOG capacity-building workshops (running in parallel tracks) for technical hands-on details with network engineers, content managers and developers.
